A LIFE LESSON
It was a beautiful Sunday morning, clear blue sky and the sun shining as bright as it could. I was up early getting ready to head to the shop, where I make a living as a mechanic. My girlfriend Grissel was in the kitchen making me breakfast so I could start my day on a good note. I knew it was going to be a good day when the house was filled with the smell of my favorite crispy bacon, scrambled eggs and fresh coffee brewing. After we were done eating I gathered my tools, gave her a peck on the lips and headed out to start my day.
I first started to get interested in fixing cars at a young age, watching my father work on his vehicles. He showed me how to maintain a vehicle by changing the engine and transmission oils. Once I got a little older he started to show me how to replace rotors, brakes, tie rods, and control arms. When I went to high school I went to a vocational school and I took up mechanics. After high school I had an opportunity to work for a mechanic shop, and I took that opportunity.
When I arrived at the shop my boss Gregg was already there unlocking the locks and opening the shop gates. As soon I came up to him he greeted me with, “Good morning Cesar, I already have a few cars lined up for you to work on.” I replied, “Alright no problem! I will start preparing all the parts and tools so I can be ready for the customer’s arrival.” Once I had everything settled, I requested for the first customer to bring in his car. It was a forest green 2008 Ford Escape, which was in need of a brake and rotor job, So I started my usual routine. I took the tires off, and removed the brake calibers by unscrewing the two hidden screws behind the rotor. After taking off the caliber I removed the pads and the rotors. I’ve been doing mechanical work for a long time now and I’ve always done brake and rotors with the same method. So once I replaced all the parts, I put
