A memory to remember
Going to the beach is always filled with sensory experiences that are precise to ones memory and natural sensations, including the sun burnt dried out skin from baking in the sun, the fresh ocean smell regularly disrupted by the overwhelming odor of sunblock, and the sounds of crashing waves and crying birds that gets washed away. Florida is known for so many beaches, but Cocoa Beach is the only place that was unforgettable. The sand between your toes, the ocean wind going through your hair, the taste of the salty ocean mist, and the feeling of ultimate relaxation on the beach; what more can you ask for? While tip toing across the smoldering sand, you can feel the sun beaming onto your skin; knowing that you will either get nasty sunburn, or a tremendous tan. It is only until hours later as the sun goes to rest and the moon rolls in for it nightly duty that one could feel the ocean breeze becoming a refreshing sensation. That’s when it is the perfect time to snuggle up and gather all of my friends for an awesome bonfire. Roasting marshmallows, telling embarrassing stories about each other’s, and friends singing while playing their guitars, there’s not better way then to spend your time on the beach. While everyone is sleeping, watching the beautiful sunset blooming into the horizon can be the most stunning thing anyone can ever witness while snuggling up on the sand. While walking around, looking at all the places you can shop at, the only thing that grabs my attention is a long surfboard known as a soft top. All I can think was, I need to learn how to surf. While looking around the shop, I notice a sign that says, “surf lessons available.” Thinking to myself why not take the opportunity to learn. Not only did I learn to surf, the instructor was so cute! While I was getting taught surfing all I can see is the waves booming into the sand… What was I thinking? Getting onto the surfboard and going into the water

You see, I do not necessarily care for the blistering hot days southern Florida is known for. I enjoy the beach the most when it is cooler; especially when it has just rained. I sit back in my beach chair and look up to the sky. The clouds create a pleasant, refreshing blanket from the hot sun. I take a deep breath and, I can smell the rain that has just fallen. Now, the clouds are breaking and letting little slivers of sunlight shine threw. The new sun seems to change the color of everything. The sand is a bright white with speckles of glittering shells. The ocean is a deep shade of aqua with the sunlight glistening over it. This is…

The first few steps after the boardwalk may feel rather rocky due to scattered sediments and tiny pebbles sticking on to the soles of your feet, but by halfway to the ocean, it starts getting smooth and cooler with every step you take. If laying around and catching some ray is not your type of fun, there are beach volleyball courts set up, kites to be flown here and safe swimming with lifeguards on the look out. Gazing at the sandy shore, you can see the roaring waves rushing in, toppling forts and castles made out of silken sands that shimmers under the blazing sun like tiny luminous stars in the night sky. Take advantage of this peaceful, quiet moment by standing on the shoreline and wait for the rolling ocean water slide by the ankles of your leg. As the waves try to pull back in, you will feel a sinking sensation on the heels of your foot due to the pressure of your weight and the surrounding sand. Lastly, there is an area for youths with a big, plastic palm tree set up in the middle and tiny sprinklers around it, spraying cold, chilling drops that can be felt even to the people strolling on the boardwalk. The beach is always crowded with families and couples to enjoy on their days off and especially on Friday nights, gorgeous firework shoot off can be seen starting at 9:30p.m. (Only during the summer…

I've never been so excited about going on a skiing trip. I had waited for this trip for a long time, and when a friend, Mike, called me and said that he is gathering our entire group of friends from our college to go skiing, Peter and I agreed to go without hesitation. When I was in college, we had already created a close-knit group of friends, and even though everyone went on his or her own path and has a wife, a husband, or children, we promised ourselves that every year, we would meet up. And so, it is the present. In my mind, I was thinking about how old my daughter, Lily, would be at the time of the trip, and whether I could I leave her and my son, Nicolas, with my mom. My husband and I decided to go skiing in the French Alps, the destination being the Three Valleys. We landed in Turin in Italy, where we were picked up by our friends, and after a few hours we were already at the hotel. Despite the early hour, we all went to the rooms for a good night sleep before we hit the slopes the next morning.…

    America the Beautiful

America is a unique individual with several defining qualities. Loudness and quietness coexisting in one place is remarkable and truly beautiful. Ocean City, New Jersey is a breathtaking place, as is America. Being on the beach is what I look forward to the most while preparing for vacation. Silence envelops my body on the beach, and yet waves crash down as adults and children scream and play. The most amazing part about the shore is tanning. Not because I like to get darker, but because I feel as though the sun embraces my body and gives me warmth—it’s a sense of ease, a sense of comfort. Even on the boardwalk, there’re so many people everywhere talking, laughing, eating—but the food is a completely different story. Anyway, being on top of a ride is exhilarating, yet so serene. It’s almost as good as one of my best recollections from vacation.…

July 15th, 2015, my mom had the day off of work, so we decided to take one last trip to the beach before I had to pack up my suitcase and fly home. Since it was one of the last few days to spend in my little paradise, we decided to go all out and spend the whole day at Coronado. Packing a picnic, the boogie-boards, some beach chairs, and a few other little things, we thought we were prepared for a day of fun and relaxation. What else did we need on a hot sunny day at the beach?…

Cape Coast is immensely hot throughout the year because it is in the tropical zone, so I went to the beach almost every weekend. At the beach lays the majestic sea blue Ocean with its waves forming into white foams when it crashes into the rocks, which sometimes made me jump when I was unaware. The beach has a golden sand that dazzles in the sun, and droplets of the waves that is thrown into the sky when it crashes into the rocks and sparkles like a thousand jewels. Half crushed seashells lay around the beach with seagulls and other smaller birds screeching and fighting over dead fish that are washed off shore. The wind blows gently and the humid air is filled with the scent of seaweed and seawater that cools off the scorching heat of the sun. The locals lay half-naked and relaxed on the quiet, peaceful gritty sand of the beach, while their children play in the calm waves of the Ocean.…

As we get out of the car we are so excited because it means our journey had finally ended and we were at our destination. The beach was amazing with its soft warm sand and the waves crashing in, perfect weather for boogie boarding. We weren’t used to beaches with soft sand because we grew up in northern California and most of the beaches were very rocky. But we were ready to just run out into the water without anything other than our boogie boards, but, my mom wouldn’t let us until we put on some sun screen because me and Sam were very white. She didn’t want us to get badly burnt; little did we know that would be the least of our worries. But we obeyed her since she was the boss so we put our sunscreen on and got ready to get out into the wave.…

Immediately arriving on the white soft sandy beach, our sandals came off and we let our feet feel the sand between our toes. Walking down the beachfront we saw a rainbow of tent tops and with little kids laughing and giggling made music to my ears. Finally arriving at an empty spot we opened up the cooler and had our thirst quenched by ice-cold lemonade. We began laughing and telling jokes trying to soak up the sun’s radiation to give us a golden bronze tan. Soon after being in the hot son we began…
