Good morning class. Welcome to my presentation. Today I am going to talk about an ancient Roman architecture named Fontana Di Trevi. Well, I would like to start by a movie, ‘Roman Holiday’. Have you anyone ever saw that? I have to tell you that this fountain became famous because of this movie. Before I begin my report, I would like to show you some key parts what I am going to say.
Firstly, I will talk about the history and development about this fountain. And then, I will move on to the location of Fontana Di Trevi. In this part, I will also talk about some famous architecture around this fountain. Besides that, I will also tell some characteristics and features about it. And the forth part can be very attractive—I will talk about some interesting things.
Well, The Fontana Di Trevi also called Trevi Fountain in English. It is a fountain in the Trevi rione in Rome, Italy. This fountain is at the junction of three roads. And that is why we call it ‘Trevi Fountain’. In 1629 Pope Urban VIII, found the earlier fountain not attractive enough, then asked Gian Lorenzo Bernini to renovate it. But due to the outcry in Rome over the fact that a Florentine won, Salvi was awarded the commission anyway. The work began in 1732, and the fountain was completed in 1762. It cost almost 20 years.
Salvi died in 1751, with his work half-finished. The Trevi Fountain was finished in 1762 by Giuseppe Panini.
The first purpose of building it was originally to provide water from Aqua Virgo aqueduct for thermal baths. The fountain was refurbished in 1998; the stonework was scrubbed and the fountain provided with recycling pumps. And now, it is a hot spot for tourists in Rome.
That’s all I have to say about history and development. Now we turn to location.
Well, the Trevi Fountain is
