Introduction
The company that we will examining is E Printing Company. The competitive strategy deployed by the company is cost leadership. Where the core product of the company produces printer that use a specific inkjet that allow a lot prints per inkjet leading to low cost per print. In the following essay we are going to identify and analysis 3 Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies used by the company with regards to their competitive strategy, evaluate the pro and cons of the specific strategies and whether anything can be done to improve on it.
Importance of linkage between strategies (competitive and HRM)
Specific strategic require employee with different types of behavior and attitudes, this is also known as role behaviors.( Noe et al. 2012), For example an organization engaged in differentiation strategy require employee to be creative and cooperative, have a tolerance for ambiguity and high risk capacity.
HRM strategy shape the role behavior of the employees and equipping them with a broad range of skills and abilities, which are required to achieve the organization’s goals through three methods (Conway, 2004):
(1) developing employee skill ;
(2) motivation through performance-based rewards; and
(3) empowerment, including participation mechanisms
These points will not be discussed individually.
Developing employee skills
Training and career development is an essential part of any organization. In this competitive landscape, business objectives change lead to business process changes and new skills will be required to perform these tasks. Training ensure that employees have skills to work with new technology; increase employees’ knowledge of foreign competitors and cultures; ensure employment security and
