Kayin
The national races such as Kayin, Bamar, Pa-O, Shan, Mon and Rakhine are residing in the Kayin State. The main religious are Buddhism, Christianity. The six different families of Kayin nationals are Saghaw (Sakaw), Sho (Poe), Bwe, Padaung, Kayini and Zayein. Bwe are northern Kayins and Saghaws (Sakaws) and Shos (Poes) are southern Kayins. Hpasi is the symbol of Kayin culture. Kayin don is a popular dance. The religious or traditional festivities are Kayin New Year Day celebrations, house warming ceremonies, sand pagoda festival, Kayin campfire festival, and the festival to summon spirits, boat floating festival and bone collecting ceremony. Farm festivals are harvesting festival and various festivals to offer food to spirits.
Mon
In the Mon state, majority of inhabitants are Mons and Bamars. Kayin, Rakhine, Chin, Kachin, Shan and Pa-O national races also live in the state. The majority of people are Buddhists with Christians as minority. Main languages are Mon and Myanmar. Kyaikhtiyoe Pagoda Buddha Pujaniya is visited by people from all over the country and tourists.
