Billy Graham
There are several different worldviews such as Christianity, Atheism, Naturalism and New Age Pantheism. Each worldview has a role model of some form. A role model is someone that is looked up to for advice and guidance. As one of the most admired and very influential man of his time, Billy Graham, can he be considered a role model for anyone; is it very possible. Billy Graham held a Christian Worldview, and can be considered a role model because of the way he values his family, his career as a preacher and the way he handled social issues.
Billy Graham has preached to more live audiences than anyone in history (Pierard 1973). Mr. Graham has written 31 books with several best sellers. For numbers of years the Gallup organization named Graham as one of the five most respected Americans (Alston 1973). Billy Graham has a Christian Worldview, from his view point the world is supposed to work contrary to God’s plan for salvation. Today Mr. Graham is 94 years old and still carries the same beliefs as he did in his prime.
Billy Graham is very family focused. He came from a large size family and overtime has created a rather large family of his own. Billy and his wife Ruth Bell had five children, nineteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren (Apel 1979). Billy was without a doubt the first role model his children had growing up. They could look up to him and see that they can do anything they wanted. No one ever thought Billy would be a preacher, but he set up goals and reached them and overcome the odds to be a well-known man. I have a whole different family picture. My mother raised me alone. I didn’t have my father or even any brothers or sisters. Having a supportive family makes all the difference. As far as family goes we are day and night in comparison.
