1. The diffirence between atoms and molecules is that atoms are the smallest units of matter and can not be divided by chemical means. Molecules are made up of atoms of the same kind that are together in a group. The difference between covalent bonds and ionic bonds are that covalent bonds have 2 atoms sharing the same electron. Ionic bonds occur when an atom takes one electron away from another atom.
2. Adhesion and Cohesion differ because adhesion is when 2 substance of the same kind are joined together. Cohesion is when 2 substances of different types are bonded together. One example of adhesion is water molecules coming together through their polarity. One example of cohesion is water and salt mixing together to get saltwater.
3. Substances that will dissolve in water are polar objects like salt and sugar. Substances that can’t dissolve in water are nonpolar and some of them are oil, butter, and alcohol. Substances will dissolve in water because the poles of each substance attract to the opposite poles of water which causes them to bond together. Some substance will not dissolve in water because the substance is nonpolar and will not attract to the water molecules.
4. The Ph scale is a tool in science used solubility of a substance. An acid is a substance that will form hydrogen ions when dissolved in water. Bases are substance that will produce hydroxide ions when dissolved. The number of the Ph scale represent how strong an acid is or . Examples of acids are stomach acids and lemo juice. Examples of bases are lye and soap.
