“Dear John,” the letter read. And with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives changed forever.
John Tyree an angry rebel, he had enlisted to the army after high school, not knowing what else to do. Then during a furlough, he meets Savannah, the girl of his dreams. The girl who let him knew that he’s ready to take over a new leaf. The attraction is mutual and quickly grows into a kind of love that leaves Savannah vowing to wait for John while he finishes his tour of duty. But neither can foresee that 9/11 is about to change the world. John chose love over country. When he finally return to his hometown, in North Carolina, John discover how love can transform everything in ways we never could have imagine.
SUMMARY
John as a little kid struggled with finding the balance between himself and his father. While on leave from the Army, he meets Savannah. She goes to UNC Chapel Hill in North Carolina and is in Wilmington, NC to work for Habitat for Humanity. They become quick friends after John dives into deep ocean water in order to retrieve her fallen purse. At a bonfire, with wild college students, John meets Savannah's friend Tim Wheddon. John quickly learns of how inviting and mature Savannah and Tim really are. After the initial meet, John and Savannah meet again at the beach where he teaches
