Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon Bonaparte was a ruthless killer who hungered for power alone. He sacrificed much in order to contribute a great deal to the world by winning battles and discovering things such as the Rosetta Stone in Egypt. His thirst for control and power cost him everything he worked so hard for consequently leading to exile. Napoleon had many different sides to him. To some, he was an extraordinary military commander who led an army to victory. To others, he was a distinguished civil administrator. This is some of the positive effects and the negative effects Napoleon showed.
Napoleon brought positve vibes and effects, when he and his gunners had welcomed thousands of royalists with a cannonade. Therefore, that sent the attackers in panic and confusion. He then became "Hero of The Hour." He was then hailed throughout the city of Paris as a savior of the French Republic. 1796 Napoleon led a French army against forces such as Austria, and the kingdom of Sardinia. Young Napoleon won remarkable sets of victories, but that of course wasn't going to last for long, when his army was pinned down in Egypt, and the British defeated his forces. However, Napoleon kept stories about his wars that had been out of newspapers and he remained a hero of France.
When Napoleon started feeling really confident and powerful than ever, he kept wanting more. Napoleon caused much damaged to many, giving him the bad reputation that he began to gain, and mainly, his way on toward his downfall. First, is when he wanted to invade the UK and defeat the Royal Navy at sea, which he never accomplished. Then eventually he had the European nation under his thumb, which led to a very large debt. Food imports in Britain dropped, and mainly food prices increased. Second, Napoleon decided to take over and invade Russia, which was a big mistake because Russia defeated the French Army

He worked for only more power and used people to his advantage. Napoleon did not like the idea of Animalism but he liked the idea of him being the most powerful so he created lies that would allow him to be boosted up above the other animals, giving himself the most power. Though Napoleon was not a good public speaker he used animals such as Squealer, a convening speaker who could manipulate words to their advantage. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin who was a not in agreement to the idea of “communism” but liked the idea of him being in the highest power of authority. He was relentless and murdered anyone who opposed him, though he was a leader he also did not do very well with public speaking nor was he educated well, he only craved power. Stalin also used other speakers but in different ways, through propaganda.…

Napoleon Bonaparte was a lifelong friend of mine and also one of France’s most successful Emperors. He had an abundant source of energy, and a surprising ability to make quick decisions even in the most pressured situations. These traits and his keen intelligence allowed him to influence the people of whom he ruled over and gain their support. He was truly a supernatural, supporting the fact that he finished three year classes in only a year in school, became a second lieutenant straight out of school, and won many wars being in control of France and its artilleries. His accomplishments followed a significant pattern, all of which led up to him being the Emperor. His genius appeared when he saved France from royalists in Vendemiare. I find it truly amazing how he went from being 9 years old in Military school, to second lieutenant, to Brigadier General leading all artilleries, and to finally becoming Emperor after winning many significant battles. He continuously showed his integrity and eagerness to have everything in control through all his actions. Napoleon Bonaparte is easily the most eager, intelligent, charismatic, successful, and hardest working leader of all time.…

Most of the time he had some pretty bad failures. For instance on June 24, 1812 Napoleon was so power hungry he tried conquering Russia. Furthermore Napoleon did not think very hard on this decision, and as a result almost all of his soldiers died, and finally he had to retreat on December 8, 1812. Napoleon was also power hungry because he used the chaos in France to his advantage and seized power. When France’s government was unstable Napoleon decided that he wanted power and he staged a coup replacing one republican government with a new republican government, and therefore became powerful, and was able to become a strong military leader. This then lead him to crown himself Emperor of the French. After all that Napoleon did, mostly he will be remembered for his failed attack on Russia in…

He had a big impact on history. If he wouldn’t have an impact on history I think he would not be talked about how he is talked about today. He wanted his dream to come true and it did, his dream was to be remembered and he is. Napoleon's campaigns upset the balance of power in old Europe and spread the ideals of the French revolution throughout Europe. His military campaigns were brilliant and innovative. His armies did indeed commit some atrocities and in many ways Napoleon was a hypocrite especially after he made himself Emperor, still he was admired by many for spreading the French republican ideals and toppling the old European order. In his marches through Europe he emancipated the Jews and granted a number of civil liberties in occupied countries that did not exist before the invasion. He supported the sciences and even brought archaeologists with him to Egypt.…

When Napoleon rose to power, many reforms were made regarding the social system, economics, education, and political aspects. For some, the reforms made under his rule were for the better of the people, but others viewed the reforms as negative changes. Nonetheless, Napoleon will always be thought of as a powerful figure in the French Revolution. A leader from the beginning, Napoleon was sent to France for military training at age nine.…

For one, Napoleon was extremely egotistical. He only cared for himself and was only concerned with how things affected him. The good of everyone else was secondary. Count Mole, who was a Councilor of State, Minister, and peer of France said of Napoleon, “he thought of nothing but his own gratification, of magnifying himself and his power without limit and without rest.” When Napoleon proclaimed to his troops on the Commencement of the war and third Coalition, he stated, “Soldiers, your Emperor is among you!” As you can see from the quotes, Napoleon thought of himself as a Godly being who was better than everyone else and looked down on others. This is one of the reasons I think he is more of a tyrant than a hero.…

It can be said that overall, Napoleon had a positive public image in France from 1796-1812. This is because he in many ways created his own self image, specifically through art and print, eliminating any possible interpretation of his actions on the public's part. For example, many of the famous paintings publicised by Napoleon were in no way similar to the event that had actually taken place. This in turn made him more popular throughout France. Napoleon Bonaparte was inarguably an important figure in the history of France and Europe. However, there has been much controversy over the subject in the past. Would history perceive him as a hero or an enemy of France and the world? Many twentieth-century dictators would later model themselves on Napoleon, more than a hundred years after his death. Napoleon was not the first dictator, so why was he such an important figurehead for future dictators? Some historians may consider that Napoleon was a savior of France, and a brilliant military genius. Others would believe that he was a corrupted tyrant and had betrayed key ideals that had been established in the French Revolution. His rise to and consolidation of power made him a full dictator. His foreign policy sought to dominate the whole of Europe. Despite some temporary glory and beneficial reform for France, the final result of Napoleon 's reactions clearly pointed to him as an evildoer who had failed in his attempt to achieve ultimate power.…

Napoleon also had to shape public opinion -- this was accomplished by crude forms of propaganda, but more importantly by the use of secret agents, arbitrary arrests, and executions. Like all dictators -- we think of Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin -- Napoleon relied on public opinion to prevent hostile criticism. In other words, dissent was nearly impossible. Printers and booksellers swore oaths of allegiance and all newspapers fell under state control. So, by repressing liberty, subverting republicanism and restoring absolutism, Napoleon reversed some of the liberal gains of the Revolution. He favored equality before the law and careers open…
