1.) The definition and characteristics of civilization. (Class Lecture)
A civilization is a moderately large population inhabiting, extending territory, sharing a common culture. Civilizations have Societies within which are organized with three components government, rules and laws.
In order for a civilization to be prosperous it must have these three necessities: 1.) Water 2.) Soil made to grow food. 3.) Good Climate
More Characteristics of a civilization can include 1.) Agrarian based society: (society that depends on its agriculture for its primary means for support and sustenance. This society varies very much from the modern industrial society. Agrarian/Agriculturalist societies were the most common during the Neolithic era.

2.) Social Order of Classes:
1.) Aristocracy: Made up about 5% of the population, wealthy people were people who owned land, consisted of priests.
2.) Middle class: Physicians or People with Skill.
3.) The Masses: Farmers or Fisherman
3.) Cities: Included the center of commercial activities, Government, politics, Trade, education, religion, commerce, Inventions, Tradition, Entertainment, military protection.
4.) Hard metal technology: Revolutionized Agrarian based society. Could now create tools to make framing easier and more productive. Brass= Zinc + Copper. These tools revolutionized the agrarian society much like computers have revolutionized the communication era. Better weapons & military protection.
5.) Writing system; the first one started was cuneiform: Wedge shaped marks on clay tablets. (Started in Mesopotamia) & Hieroglyphics (Egyptians).
6.) Complex worldview (religion): Explaining natural phenomenon and how to behave in public. Began organizing a society raising morality and values. By people studying religious practices allowed for improvement of peoples morality and principles.
7.) Practice of art and Aesthetics (agrarian based): Art is a form of expression, paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculpture and
