How to Succeed in College Essay Example
College 101 has been a very informative class. It has taught me a lot about college and the changes you have to make while attending college. I learned a lot about certain programs that the school offers, I knew nothing about these programs before I took this class and I probably never would have known anything about them if I never would have taken this class. In this class I have learned about three important concepts that can be very useful throughout my college years to come. I think time management, determining values and balancing lifestyles are the three most important concepts you need to help you succeed in college.

I think planning a day to day schedule of the things you have to do is very important and that's why time management is a very important factor while in college and even life after college. You can start out by making a chart and writing down everything that you have to do and write the time limit it should take you to do it. You have to work hard at disciplining yourself and try not to go over the time that you have designated for yourself. I think you should even set a time where you have free time to yourself. You should carry this schedule every where you go because if you forget it than you are more likely to do something else or spend more time while doing a certain task. You should also reward yourself when completing some tasks and that way if you do this you would want to keep going and complete the next one.

Determining values can be a very difficult thing at times because your values are always changing as you grow. Some people value education and material things while others value religion and spirituality. You have to identify the values that are going to make you happy because if you don't you may try to accomplish things to make other people happy. Having values helps you to determine where you want to go in life and the decisions you make. If you value something you are pretty much going to base every thing

I took one step into room A232 and had no clue what Col 101 would accomplish. There was barely anything I knew like what the class was about and the material it would involve. The class was a required course every full-time student needed and was worth two credits. People said no heavy, hard information was in there to learn, so there’s no stress. Now that I’m close to completing Col 101, the in depth discussions has taught me the importance and purpose of reaching the worth of my education. We highlighted the three most fundamental topics to succeed in college, which included: self-assessment of personal responsibility, application of self-management, and development of higher learning skills.…

Throughout my life I have gone through very unfair things. There is always something between me and achieveing my goals, although those things aren't there to make life hard, but to make me fight for what I want. Before I used to say I didn't want to go to college and even if I did I wouldn't make it. Now I have a whole new different perspective and I really want to go to college to have both a good future and life. The reason there should be a spot for me in college are so many. I want to be the first one to graduate from college in my family. I want to be someone my little cousins would admire, a rolemodel. I would show them that even through the inequalities, the lack of money, and unfairness, I made it to college. Also I have my want of making something out of my life, no one wants to be a nobody. If you have the faith and belief in yourself, perseverance and effort, anything can be accomplished. If I make it to college I can help out and encourage my family to do the same. I want to go to college and graduate to become a Pediatrician which is what i've wanted to do all my life. I enjoy being with kids and I'd love to help them out. I could do all of this and more but going to college is a MUST. With a college education I'll achieve anything I set my mind, soul, and heart to do. I would try my best at everything, and stand on my own 2 feet, for my family, and especially for myself. If I get to receive a college education I would feel as if i'm on top of the world. Those are the reasons why their should be a spot for me in…

I decided to attend college for a reason. Therefore, I should make every single day count. At the end of the day, I note down the accomplishments of my day in a diary and schedule my plans for the following day. Everyday is a new day. With a busy life, it's essential to plan ahead and recognize the small steps that one has to take in order to get where one desires to be. A schedule for every single day of the week may sound tedious, but it only take thirty minutes out of one's day. One can portion out the time for sleeping, eating, working, and enjoying. Not every second of the day has to be spent on homework or sleep. By maintaining a journal, one can keep track of small achievements and be a bit satisfied.…

The values that I hold most deeply are friendships, family, and happiness. Values are things that are important in the way I live and work and I believe all of these things play a major role in my life. Since I was a little kid, my values have changed tremendously. Back then, my values would've been playtime, mac & cheese, and chicken nuggets. I believe values mature as you grow and mine definatly did. For example, when I was younger I remember being friends with everyone, but now I only have a select number of friends. This represents values to me. My values inform my actions by them always being my first thought while making a decision. They always play a role in my…

Values can be political, social, moral and spiritual; and the values derived from our individual experience affect our behaviour. They define our self-concept, who, and what, we are; creating our character, forming our attitudes and driving our behaviour. People need to feel that they have a collective identity that they are good at whatever their chosen group does. Mostly, our values are fixed early in life by our parents or carer through a process called socialisation.…

I always find that there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. Because time is so limited, learning how to manage time is crucial. The most basic way to start is by getting in the habit of making "To-Do" lists on a daily basis. This is a simple way to organize my plans for each day when I have multiple tasks to do. Of course keeping this habit would not be easy for me, because as it becomes part of my regular environment, most likely, I would simply forget to notice my list. A good way to remember my "To-Do" lists is to place it where it would easily be seen and grab my attention, like taping it to my car radio or keeping it in my wallet. I will also have to prioritize daily tasks in a way where I can use my biggest margin of time to do my most important tasks because taskes that are less critical do not requires as much energy or thought. This will allow me to insure that more important task get done. Using effective time management practices will help me to ensure quality use of my time as well as learning…
