In chapter 4, Haymitch seems like a grumpy and drunk man with no feelings for the tributes and really doesn’t want to help them as a mentor. However, I think he knows a lot about survival and what the Capitol wants. I believe if Haymitch sobers up and stops being so bitter, then he would be a good mentor for them.

Katniss means that if Peeta is nice, likable and friendly, he is far more dangerous to her due to the fact that he could find allies, he could get more sponsors but the main reason is that if during the Games, Katniss and Peeta come face to face, it will be so difficult for Katniss to kill him rather than save herself is she likes him.
