Katniss And Peeta In Mockingjay

In Mockingjay, there is one question asked throughout the story that is important to Katniss and Peeta. After a crew gets Peeta back from the Capitol, they quickly realize that Peeta has been hijacked with Tracker Jacker serum. This causes Peeta to think of Katniss as a monster and unable to tell the truth from lies. However, Peeta starts a game with Katniss to sort these confusions. On page 271, Peeta tells their whole squad member,” The problem is, I can’t tell what’s real anymore, and what’s made up.” Katniss follows up with a series of facts about Peeta that help him to understand more about who he is. ‘“ Jackson has devised a game called “Real or not Real” to help Peeta.”’ This game burgeons into something that is sentimental between Katniss
and Peeta and alleviates their relationship. Because of this, they grow closer and Peeta gets to know himself. After the war is over and Katniss makes a commitment to Peeta, ‘...he whispers,”You love me. Real or not real?” I tell him, “Real.” This quote correlates to the overall theme because it shows their love for each other in a sweet and meaningful way. It also reveals that the theme of the story is that no matter what happens, love will always conquer and find a way.
