Mr World: PROLOGUE
Agent Peter Brooks, thirty seven.

Adjy agent number 37, Peter Brooks, stepped off the metal flooring of the built-for-sea hover craft and landed on firm earth. The ground shook a little as he made the short trip from the hover landing area to the small mouth of the cave. Small reptiles and insects scurried out of his way, except for a giant leopard moth which flew to his feet. He kicked it away, cursing, and held out his index finger for a scan. A bright green laser swept over him, the familiar beep that affirmed his entry and he was in. The stone hallway that led to the main building underground was long, the only light came from wooden torches aflame with artificial fire, no heat and double the light. He knew he was getting close to the main part of headquarters when he heard his footsteps change from patterned taps to loud clangs. The stone floor slowly transformed into metal and the yellow light turned blue. It now came from bulbs hidden in little gaps where the wall met the floor, not torches. He finally reached the bulk steel door and was asked for his index finger again, this was because the Adjy (the secret organisation he worked for) had implanted a small identity chip into it. He wouldn’t be able to get into headquarters without it. The first face he saw when he was allowed entrance into the building was that of the young novice, Jay Herd. The annoying, arrogant teenager whose father owned Adjy. A few months ago they had dumped him onto Agent Brooks as a way of ‘teaching him’ the family business. "Yo Brooksie." He greeted and slapped the agent's shoulder. The way Jay dressed and acted was enough to drive any adult insane. Agent Brooks still couldn't wrap his head around why Agent one, Mr Herd, had let his son dye his choppy hair a bright purple. Or why he'd let him get extreme piercings or horrifying tattoos. Sometimes it felt like going to the circus instead of work at a powerful organisation. "Herd." He nodded his head once and

From their very genesis, the New England and Chesapeake Colonies displayed stark differences and contrasts. The former was founded mostly for religious reasons and the latter for purely economic ones. Though both regions were in relatively close proximity, comparably, they greatly differed religiously, politically, socially, and morally (in so far as their perception/exploitation of Native Americans was concerned). The exploration of these different colonies will prove to be particularly fruitful due to the fact that we can understand how their early influences shaped the modern day east coast.…

Allan Pinkerton was a well known detective who owned his very own Secret Service Bureau in Ohio. Once the Civil War had started, Allan had moved his bureau to the Washington to help the Union government and generals. One of the first tasks that the Agency took was intelligence gathering for General Mcclellan, the man responsible for the attack on Richmond. While gathering the intelligence requested by Mcclellan, the agency used several different methods which led to inaccurate information. One of the reason why the information was inaccurate is that Pinkerton relied on civilian accounts. The civilians often had inaccurate estimates of troops, locations, and cannon placement. In addition to this, Pinkerton’s Agency did not have experienced scouts to confirm this information. Because the information was never analyzed and double checked before given to the General, the information could not be trusted. As a result, the attack on Richmond conducted by General Mcclellan failed miserably. Although The Agency was not successful in espionage, the secret service was highly skilled in counterespionage which resulted in the capture of many spies. The Agency’s most famous case was the capture and arrest of Rose Greenhow and her spy ring. While Greenhow was on house arrest, Pinkerton had constant surveillance on the house which led to many…

    1. Eighner organizes his essay by breaking down how and why scavengers do what they do to survive. He begins his essay with how he became a scavenger and follows that with how to scavenge the best, safest way possible. He communicates how to choose the right dumpsters to dive into, how to determine if food is edible, and whether items are worth holding onto. I believe Eighner chose this type of organization throughout his essay to ease readers into the idea of scavenging through dumpsters. I feel like Eighner is almost trying to convince reader that’s scavenging through dumpster is not that bad, so if he shed the activities in a positive light maybe people would not be so grossed out when observing other dumpster divers.…

Dante Alighieri once said “Avarice, envy, pride, three fatal sparks, has set the hearts of all on fire.” This quote connects to the short story “The Scarlet Ibis” written by James Hurst, which also portrays the idea that acts of courage can develop and nurture personal integrity. The story is introduced by the narrator that confesses how everyone in his family was convinced their new born baby boy Doodle (also referred as the protagonist’s younger brother known as “Brother”) was crippled, mentally, and physically disabled. Although it is later on known that Doodle is indeed a healthy human being mentally but has slight difficulties physically. The narrator’s shame towards Doodle’s limitations helps build his determination into the brother that he longs for. However, Brother’s expectations pushes Doodle constantly past the point of physical endurance. Doodle does learn a lot from Brother, but everything he comprehends comes at a ultimately high & dangerous price to Doodle to a certain extent where he purposefully abandons his weak brother, & he puts him to an early death, in which later he is wallowed through self-condemnation.…
