The Speech I have chosen to analyze is Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Pearl Harbor Address, also known as the “Infamy Speech,” which was given on December 7th, 1941.…
An inherent tension between the actual and the possible is revealed through the development of ideas in a speech. This is seen through an intrinsic connection between reality and what can become reality, made obvious by notions presented through, rhetorical devices. This is seen in the prescribed speeches.…
Write a brief monologue (two minutes) in the "voice" of one of these four characters or people (Agamemnon, Hamlet, Prufrock, or John Kennedy). In the monologue, identify what you hope people learn from hearing “your” story. Include reference to your struggles and what can be learned from them. Remember that a monologue is written as if you are the person speaking, using the first person pronoun “I.” In your monologue you must make a connection to at least two of the other characters. How were they like you or different in their discoveries of what you hope people learn?…
The purpose of an informative briefing is to enhance the audience's knowledge about a specific topic in which the speaker is an expert. The goal of the presenter is to present clear-cut information in an interesting yet enlightening manner. The purpose of my speech was to enhance the audience's awareness of what marijuana is, as well as to dispel many myths that exist around it that emanate from the fact that it is an illegal substance, causing often untrue information to be spread. The ultimate goal of my presentation was to leave the audience with a better understanding of what the plant actually is and how it may be of use to society.…
I know I can live up to this challenge, and you know you can trust me with your vote. I take it as my honor and privilege to serve our class. I truly look forward to working with my classmates and ensuring that your experience in high school is as fun and as memorable as possible. Becoming a member of the SGA means taking a position of service; this means that everyone I serve is held of the highest importance. Serving you is, and will be my top priority. Vote for me, and I promise you will see results. Thank…

We’ve all watched those humorous college party movies where someone takes a “magical” drug and they suddenly feel amazing. They feel like they’re on top of the world, even invincible. What if I told you that the purest form of that drug could help people who suffer PTSD? In this speech, I will tell you what PTSD is, the benefits of MDMA, and the risks of MDMA.…
Awe...I'm glad. And the only burden is what you put on yourself. You are no burden to me whatsoever! I may not suffer from anxiety per se, but I have a slew of other hang ups and issues that make it so I can totally empathize. It's funny how mood can make one perceive things. In my first email I was trying to be super reassuring. I would not want to make you feel worse. But I know what it's like to be in a bad head space where nothing seems to make things better. I am also not going anywhere so get that out of your head.…
I am not running for class president because I have a bigger baseball card collection than the other candidates -- which I do -- but because I am a patriot and I love my class in a totally non-cootie related way. We were once the greatest class in the entire school, and we still are because the principal looks down on us and smiles. He loves our class, I love our class and we are crazy awesome, so keep that in mind while I now explain why we suck so hard.…
This e-text component of my textbook is not effective or useful and not working correctly. This e-text component of my textbook have no purpose and if this e-text does have a purpose it’s not doing what you said it was designed to do. This e-text is so useless in achieving the purpose that it was intended to achieve. This e-text component is what I call ineffective. As we know ineffective is something that does not work correctly or does not do what you want it to do. What did I see? Unfortunately, I only saw a “log in/ make an account page” and after that I saw a page to enter a course ID code, an code in which I do not know. I emailed and emailed just to get steps that didn’t help. The steps was lacking a useful purpose. They basically told me to do what I have already been doing from the start. Afterwards, I was told to skip the course ID page that was crucial to making my account. With that being said I’m unable to make my account. I truly do wish that e-text in the future will be available to me. And not cumbersome. You did mention in your question to use to answer that e-text have study aides, and quizzes and more. Just mentioning them two things alone to me seem like a huge help in achieving the grade I want. I truly to do wish I could go into great details about the functions of e-text. However unfortunately, I can’t. As of now, I will rate e-text one out of ten. Hopefully, one day I can change my rating.…
Throughout the speech, King frequently appeals to pathos, but he uses all three of the Aristotelian appeals effectively. He uses appeal to pathos to let his audience realize what type of condition the African Americans are in. He uses another appeal to logos to persuade the African Americans to take actions and also to use it for transitions. He also uses appeal to ethos to keep the readers and the audiences to be interested. According to King’s speech, he stated, “But one hundred years later, the Negro still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination….And so we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.” This quote means that after one hundred years free from being slaved, African Americans were still not free through discrimination and segregation. That’s why hundreds of thousands of African Americans came at the Lincoln’s Memorial to dramatize these conditions. King uses anaphora on this quote to emphasize the repetition of the phrase at the beginning of the consecutive sentences to let the reader or the audience know what happened after ‘one hundred years.’In paragraph one to six, the purpose of this section was to introduce the information to the audience about what they needed to know. According to King’s speech, he stated, “…a great American…signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves….. But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free…. We’ve come here to dramatize a shameful condition…. In a sense we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a bad check….., that has come back marked as “insufficient funds”. But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.” This quote means that the Emancipation Proclamation was the greatest hope for all African Americans to be free. But after one hundred years, they were given a ‘bad check’ because they were facing through many discriminations and segregations.…
In response to this over opinionated segment I would like to express how outraged I truly am. Being a young person today I feel that the majority of us normal everyday youths are being stereotyped into a hood wearing, crime committing and drug abusing association. Throughout my response I am going to voice my perception of your youth hating statement, and give you an insight into the aspiration filled youths, like myself.…
Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most incredible men in the world. He thought that it was not right that African Americans had to drink out of separate water fountains, sit in the corner of restaurants in the ‘colored section’, or give up there bus seat to a white man because it was the law. Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist that faught bravely for the freedom of himself and for the freedom of others.…
Ladies and gentlemen, I have come here to talk to you about one of my hobbies, kayaking. A common misconception is that a kayak is the same as a canoe, but this is not the case. There are a number of differences between a kayak and a canoe, the main difference is that in a kayak, you are enclosed, unlike in a canoe, whose cockpit is much like a boat. Also, a kayak is normally for one person only and a canoe is for a number of people. Finally, in general, a canoe has only one paddle. While a kayak has two that are joined together with one shaft.…
