Despite this, we must not lose sight of the fact that immigrants provide America with many advantages. The richness and diversity of their cultures, for example. Also, their willingness to work hard and take on certain jobs that Americans would otherwise refuse - at least at the same wage level. They provide a supply of willing labor for those industries which are in need. Americans benefit from the goods and services that their inexpensive labor allows.…
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that 22 percent of construction workers are foreign born, with 2.4 million immigrants working in the sector of construction, the largest source of jobs for immigrant labor. Jerry Howard, CEO of the National Association of Home Builders, estimates that 25 to 30 percent of those working in resident construction are immigrants, though no one knows how many are here legally.…
These immigrants make up 13 percent of the population and more than half of these migrants are from Latin America and the Caribbean (New York Times). These immigrants come to the United States to find jobs, go to school and to pursue the dream of providing for their family and living a good life. This dream was well represented in Balseros by Rafael Cano when he said he wanted a house, a car, and a good woman (Balseros). Immigrants come to the United States to pursue a better life for their families and this pursuit is shown to have positive impact on society. The New York Times reports multiple studies have concluded that in the regions where immigrants have settled in the past two decades, crime has gone down, cities have grown, poor urban neighborhoods have been rebuilt, and small towns that were struggling are starting to grow (New York Times). Studies have shown that gateway cities with increased immigration have seen a reduction in crime and measurable economic improvement (Annuls). The immigrants are finding jobs, working hard, and spending the money they earn, and all of these activities are good for the economy. This is clearly evidence that immigration has been good for the society most directly impacted and these studies suggest immigration is providing stimulus to the United…
The current controversy over Mexican undocumented workers in America plays a significant role in my personal life. As a high school student, I worked in a local sushi restaurant for over a year, having first-hand experience with undocumented workers. My experience is supported throughout the ethnography, Labor and Legality: An Ethnography of a Mexican Immigrant Network by Ruth Gomberg-Muñoz. The busboys that I worked with are extremely similar to the ones described in the ethnography known as “The Lions” in the way in which they constantly work hard and are very valuable to the restaurant’s success. Although Mexican undocumented workers are so valuable to businesses, they are paid very low salaries that do not properly compensate their accomplishments. Undocumented workers should be respected and appropriately paid because of their outstanding effort and commitment to their work, making them irreplaceable.…
The achievements made by new immigrants are extraordinary. Many Asian born children take advanced classes in high school, and are excellent in math and science classes. Immigrants have contributed to the economy by opening small businesses, and creating jobs. Immigrants work undesirable jobs day and night that pay them a minimum wages. America is no longer a biracial society who struggles to end the gaps between black and white; it is now a multiracial society who grapples between the ethnic diversity…
Ever since this country was first discovered and settled, people from countries all over the world left their homelands and migrated to the “New World”. People from Spain, Germany, France, England and Asia traveled great distances to reach a new land of opportunity, to perhaps escape religious persecution or tyrant rulers. For centuries America has been viewed as a place for a fresh start, a place where anybody can come and begin a new life and follow their hopes and dreams. Even today people come to America for the exact same reasons that they did all those years before. However unlike the immigration of our ancestors, the immigrants of today aren’t able to just come here and do what they want without anybody noticing. Today most people view immigration as a problem to the United States. One of the most easily recognizable groups of today’s immigrants comes from Mexico. The Mexican immigrants often come here for better economic and living opportunities than they had at home. But no matter how much these immigrants want to better their lives for themselves and their families, most Americans feel that they are trouble and a drain on our resources. Despite what many think, the Mexican immigrants are helping our nation. The immigrants take many low end jobs that Americans do not want or are over qualified for, they can also boost our economy with the money they earn from working, and they diversify the nation. Immigration does and will contribute to a better America.…
Immigrants affect the business world because immigrants boost demand for local consumer goods, immigrants raise wages for native-born workers, immigration adds to the economy of the United States, immigrants start businesses. The purchasing power of immigrants affect the business because businesses produce more goods on to the market. Especially latinos and asians putting billions of dollars into the market. The market is crucial to the business, more people buying the products businesses put out, more successful businesses are. Increase in the consumption of goods businesses put out means more money go back to businesses. The economy is hugely affected by immigrants coming into America. The article continues to appreciate all the achievements that were made by immigrants. The speech also praises the Asian-born kids in advanced high school math and science classes and their superior work ethic should be an example for all of us to follow. The author arguments, that we no longer struggle to end the divisions between blacks and whites, because now we are trying tackle an ethnic diversity in our nation, and the idea that we are one people has changed.…
I agree that having a diverse group of worker brings many benefits. Immigrant works help both the economy they are working in and the economy they come from. The immigrants will work for less which helps companies spend money on improvement for their companies. The workers then send some of the money they make back to their family in their home country which helps stimulate that economy.…
Huemer’s reply to my criticism might state that immigrants be good for the economy. Most workers in America are simply overqualified for the work they do. This is amplified in the lower echelons of society where turnover rates are high and pay is low because no one wants to keep these jobs. Immigrants fill this gap because for many of them the pay and the jobs are much better than anything they could do in their home country. Without these workers many businesses would go out of business or have to raise wages to attract…
Within this essay I am going to discuss whether or not immigrations benefit the country. I plan on doing this effectively by looking at both sides of the argument and giving some examples before finally giving my own personal opinion on this issue.…
I think immigrants play an important role in America. They help build and strengthen America's economy. Immigrants help the economy by creating their own jobs. They work in all types of occupations. They are teachers, scientists, engineers, and construction workers. Every immigrant creates 1.2 local jobs for local workers, raises wages for native workers, and attracts native-born workers from elsewhere in the country. Overall, immigrants improve economy by creating their own business or working in difficult construction places. In addition to improving America’s economy, immigrants make the country more open-minded to new possibilities. America have diverse populations with different beliefs and culture. This means that opinions aren't limited…
Immigrants needs jobs just like the rest of us. The point I try and prove is that the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to immigrants and jobs. Immigrant…

What could or would happen if we didn’t have illegal Mexican immigrants? Let’s take a moment to realize how this happened and what caused this to happen. According to the article Mexican Immigrants In The United States, Mexican immigration began during the year of 1900 and it soon became a big deal. Mexican immigrants came to the United States which means that the U.S. is mainly affected by Mexican immigration. Illegal Mexican Immigration is the most discussed topic today and that is why I decided to talk about it.…
