Sociological Imagination is the knowledge of knowing ones relationship within their society. It is the ability to be able to step outsides of our daily live and to see the meaning of everything, how they work, how things within the society could be different and how they are influenced by ones society. Ads C. Wright Mills says, "It - is the idea that the individual can understand her own experience and gauge her own fate only by locating herself within her period, that she can know her own chances in life only by becoming aware of those of all individuals in her circumstances."
Watching "Prayers For Bobby" for the second time didn't bring forth any new feelings for me. Situations like Bobby's occur way to often within many families. It is very disturbing and disheartening to see the negativity disapproval Bobby had to go through with his family. It is one thing for outer siders to judge someone but to not have ones family in their corner is not right.
Bobby being a young adult having grown up in a strictly christian family didn't want to be gay jus as much as his mother in the beginning. It is sad when one is struggling with personal matters and you can't even depend on the ones that you love to help you through lives struggles. Within the movie Bobby's worse enemies were is family and mostly his mother.
Bobby's mother was no where near okay with her child being gay. She was a strict christian who believed that being a gay is a sin. She worked very hard to "cure" Bobby of being gay as if he had a disease. I do blame his mother for his death or should i say she was a huge factor leading up to Bobby's death. He loved his mother and her disapproval of him really tore him apart and stopped him from truly being himself with any thread of peace. Being a mother i think that one should accept their children no matter what, because a mothers approval is everything and that is all Bobby wanted. He wanted to feel loved by his family
