Difference between Mission and Vision Statement

Mission Statement
Mission- a mission is an enduring statement of purpose that distinguishes one form from other similar form.

Mission Statement
Is a statement which defines the role that an organization plays in society.
"The essential purpose of the organization concerning why it is in existence, the nature of business it is in and the customers it seeks to serve and satisfy.

About: Mission Statement talks about how you will get to where you want to be. Defines purpose and primary objectives related to your customer needs and a team values.
It is a Snapshot of today.

Answer:
It answer the question "What do we do?"What makes us different?
Time Frame:
Talks about the present leading to the future.
Function.:
It lists the broad goals for which the organization is formed. Its prime function is internalinternal; to define the key measures or measures of an organizations success and its prime audience is the leadership, team and stockholders.

Change:
Mission Statement may change, but it should still tie back to your core values, customer needs and vision.

Developing a Statement:
What do we do today? For whom do we do it? What is the benefit?

Features of an effective MISSION:
Purpose and value of the organization
Who are the organization's primary "clients" (stakeholders)?
What are the responsibilities of the organization towards the clients?

VISION STATEMENT
Answers the question. "What will success look like?"
The pursuit of this image of success is what motivates people to work together.

Definition:
"Description of something in the future"
Mental perception of the kind of environment an individual or organization aspires yo create within a broad time horizon and underlying conditions for the actualization of this perception.
