Educational Mission Statement Mission statements are used to symbolize the goals that an organization is trying to reach or obtain. The mission statement will help guide the way on how the organization should practice and also provide a complete structure of their practice. The Entrepreneur website defines a mission statement as “A sentence describing a company's function, markets and competitive advantages; a short written statement of your business goals and philosophies”. Most organizations mission statements will be different in some context, but the overall goal is to make sure the organization is successful and works at its fullest potential. There are some health care organizations that have different departments and philosophies that share an overall similarity of what the organizations mission statement is and goes above and beyond the mission statement to clearly describe and specify the unique goals and values each department has to offer. For instance, there are many nursing departments that have mission statements that guarantee excellent patient centered care.
Mission Statement During my nursing career, I have worked at a number of different hospitals doing my very best on providing excellent quality of care to patients. I am currently working as a nurse for Health Services of LA County. According to Health Services of Los Angeles County mission statement, their goals is to “ensure access to high-quality, patient-centered, cost-effective health care to Los Angeles County residents through direct services at DHS facilities and through collaboration with community and university partners”.
