The Parthenon
The Parthenon is part of a large sanctuary, situated on one of the highest areas of the Greek city Athena: the Acropolis.
The Parthenon reflects the climax of the Ancient Greek architecture because of the balance and the elegance of the enormous building. The Temple was build between 448 and 432 before Christ, during the Ancient Greek Period and is an example of the Ionic temple architecture.
Phidias built the temple for the Greek goddess Athena pathenos. The architects were Iktinos and Kallikrates. They began building in 447bc and finished in 431bc. It was built on the Athenian Acropolis and is considered the most important surving building in classical Greece.

Discus Trower
The discuswerper is a human like statue, made by Myron van Eleutherae. It was created around 450 before Christ and dates from the Ancient Greek Period.
The original bronze statue has only been presereved as Roman copy in marble. The composition of the statue shows 2 bows crossing each other, giving the statue tension and movement.
Greek Columns
Within the Greek Temple-architecture we can distinguish 3 different styles: Doric, Ionic and Corithic Architecture.
The Doric column is a column without a basement. It is a rather heavy column with a simple cover on top. In a Doric Temple the space right above the column is open-work with metopes and triglyphs. Sort of open space created with small little columns between the
