Both writers argue their points exceptionally but Pollitt’s essay is the better one as it is incredibly fair and reasonable and argues the opposition’s points perfectly.…

Those are marriages are strictly between a man and a woman and marriage is a privilege, not a right. In bible it is often quotes that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. So in the case of Baker v. Nelson, the Supreme Court of Minnesota found that “the institution of marriage as a union of man and woman, uniquely involving the procreation and rearing of children within an family is as old as the book of Genesis” (Gay Marriage - ProCon.org). So two couple of the same sex getting married is contradictory to that belief. Many Christian believers believe that it is morally wrong to allow same-sex marriage. These can be attributed to religious texts. Oppose group of marriage equality believe that marriage is a privilege and not a right. The classes that are protect under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 include “(1) a history of longstanding, widespread discrimination, (2) economic disadvantage, and (3) immutable characteristics… ‘Sexual Orientation’ does not meet any of the three objective criteria shared by the historically protected civil rights categories” (Gay Mariage – ProCon.org). Same-sex marriage contradicts nature. Two people of the same sex will never be able to marry because it is biologically…
Gay marriage seems to be one of the biggest topics today. There are people who agree and disagree about gay marriage because of religious factors. Religious groups, for example, Christians are divided by this issue. “Some Christians argue that it is immortal and disgracing God’s only wish which is to make children. Others argue that same sex couples are created by God, and should be able to have the same rights as any other regular couple” (Debate). There are some religions that just open reject the idea of gay marriage. “An example would be the Islamic faith, because the story of Lot in Sodom condemns homosexuality” (Debate). Same sex marriages are a problem today because people have different views based on their religion, and the fact that back then it was unheard of to even be thought as…
There are over 105 million households in the United States today and out of those households, there are over 1.2 million gay people living with same-sex partners (“Census on Gays in America”). This makes the proposed legalization of same-sex marriage one of the most significant issues in contemporary America. It is presently one of the most discussed reforms in law reviews and the American court systems. If legalized, it could be one of the most revolutionary policy decisions in the history of America, along with women’s rights, interracial marriage, and slavery. There are many people who are opposed and feel it is morally and ethically wrong and others who feel that same-sex marriages are acceptable. Prior to writing about this topic, I had no strong feelings toward or against the issue on same-sex marriages. After researching and finding out more information on the topic, I became in favor of legalizing same-sex marriages.…
The debate of gay marriage is very complex, due to the many different feelings people express on the topic. One opinion is that gay marriage should be legalized nationally. Others feel that gay marriage should not be legalized but civil unions should be granted to homosexuals so they have an alternative that allows gays and lesbians to receive something that compares to the same rights as marriage. On the other hand there is a large group that believes neither gay marriage nor civil unions should be offered to gay and lesbian couples and that any legal union should be available to heterosexual couples only. The different opinions that are expressed by society’s attitudes towards gay marriage continue to cause great controversy throughout the country, and should come to a halt by allowing homosexuals to wed.…
The proposed legalization of same-sex marriage is one of the most significant issues in contemporary American family law. As a heavily campaigned development currently discussed in law assessment; these extremely confrontational and debatable political questions are facing present day American courts. If same-sex marriage is legalized, its affect on the parents, children, same sex couples, families, and the social and political world will be astronomical. The arguments surrounding the issue though confrontational nonetheless are easily seen from a wide array of perspectives. One of the perspectives states that marriage is a promise to a spouse to stay loyal and faithful in all aspects of the words. The act of marriage includes financial, legal and social responsibilities for each partner. No matter the composition of the couple, the rules of marriage are the same from most every angle. In the act of marriage two adults bond and lawfully and often, religiously, make a promise to take on its responsibilities. The greatest question, however, is to the sole reason as to why homosexual marriages should be declared illegal or nonexistent.…

In regards to the controversy within religion, the church and its teachings have a lot to do with the negative opinions of gay marriage. Some religions that are against gay marriage include Catholics, Seventh-Day Adventists, and Mormons. There are many statements in The Bible that…

Recently, the same- sex marriage that has another terms like gay marriage or homosexual marriage was legalized in many countries. In 2001, Dutch government admitted the same-sex marriage as a law, which was the first time the country admitted the same-sex marriage as a law. And after that, many countries especially European countries such as Spain, Denmark, Norway and Belgium legalized it. And also, in the United States of America, 32 states legalized it by court decision, state legislature, and popular vote (ProCon.org 1). But 18 states ban it even though 5 states are in progress to allow it. However, some protesters claim the same- sex marriage is against Christianity. For example, in America, Catholic organization protested gay marriage at the street in Camp Hill, and it said that we 're here in defense of natural marriage and the bond between man and woman, and a moral wrong can never be a civil right (Veronikis 6). I believe that Japanese government should legalize the same-sex marriage because gay rights should be respected, prejudice against same-sex marriage will decrease, and marriage is the motivation of their lives for gay people.…
