the confidence intervals. Hypothesis testing is the opinion about the population parameter that may or may not be in the confidence interval derived from the sample. Hypothesis testing is helpful in decision making.
Before starting this unit, let’s refresh the concepts we have studied on estimation. Hypothesis testing begins with an assumption, called hypothesis that we make about a population parameter wherein we assume a certain value for the population parameter. To test the validity of our assumption, we gather sample data and determine the difference between the hypothesised value and the actual value of the sample statistic. Then we judge whether the difference is significant.

The hypothesis is a claim that needs to be investigated. In our case we are investigating if our bottles contain less than sixteen ounces of water. First we look at the NULL hypothesis, this is the established value that we accept to use as our parameter. (Ho) We know that sixteen ounces is our accepted parameter. Next we look at the alternative hypothesis. The alternative hypothesis is the claim being tested. (Ha) We start by knowing that there are two possible outcomes to conducting the Hypothesis they are:…

Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson is a true story of a few ordinary men risking everything to solve a World War II mystery, which even governments had not been able to budge. One is introduced to Bill Nagle at the start of the book. He is given a location of the mystery object from a fisherman. Nagle is the caption to the Seeker and had a feeling that this dive will be a life changer. So he meets with John Chatterton, the only man that he can trust on a dive like this one. Chatterton has been diving for almost his whole life and is known as one of the best divers in the world in 1991. Nagle and Chatterton proposed a plan to take six top divers to the site and see what was down there. On the first dive Chatterton finds out that the object is a submarine and in a later dive finds that the submarine is a German U-boat. They know this because of a peace of china Chatterton found with an eagle and the swastika, the symbol of Hitler’s Third Reich on it. Chatterton also found a knife with the name Horenburg hand carved into the handle. The problem is that they do not know what U-boat they just found. All records show that no German U-boat was sunk in that area. To solve the mystery Chatterton has to bring Richie Kohler on board because Nagle is dying from liver poisoning. Kohler is also one of the best divers, yet Chatterton and Kohler do not get along very well. Kohler tried to steal one of Chatterton’s dive sites a long time ago, when the two first met. Over time Chatterton and Kohler become best friends and spend six years of their lives trying to solve the mystery of the German U-boat. Within the six years they found tons of artifacts that do not get them any closer to finding the name of the U-boat. The only major clue was the name Horenburg, yet there was only one Horenburg and he died in a U-boat 2,000 miles away on another U-boat. After, Chatterton and Kohler had leaped over many hurdles and had lost almost…

The nursing process is used to support models such as the Roper Logan and Tierney’s activities of daily living (ALs) in order to ensure effective care is provided for each individual patient. Other models such as Roy’s adaptation model and Peplau’s person centred approach can also be used however I feel in Albert’s situation using the ALs model will be most appropriate. According to Aggleton and Chalmers (2000) the nursing process encourages the nurse and the person being cared for to set goals. These goals may be short term, intermediate or long term in nature. The first stage of the nursing process is assessment. In relation to Albert a nurse would focus on a main issue being smoking. Albert’s heavy smoking is affecting his breathing and Albert is becoming breathless at times. The nest stage of the NP is planning. Albert’s condition is causing breathlessness; in order to improve his breathing a method could be implemented for him to stop smoking. The World Health Organisation (WHO) states; “Smoking cessation is the single and most effective and cost-effective way to reduce the risk of developing COPD and stop its progression Referral to the smoking cessation team would provide him the opportunity to use alternatives such as electronic cigarettes or nicotine patches/gums in order to make stop smoking a gradual goal to achieve.”. Lastly the care plan will be implemented and Albert’s progress will be closely monitored. As the Nursing Process.Org (2013) states; ‘Once all nursing intervention actions have taken place, the nurse completes an evaluation to determine of the goals for patient wellness have been met’. In relation to Albert Over a period of time his care plan will be evaluated by the nurse and any further support needed will be identified and further care plans will be made in order to ensure Albert’s Is receiving the appropriate holistic care.…

Social disorganization, illustrated by Shaw and McKay, is the theory based on understanding crime through examining the context of neighborhoods within a city. After studying a map of the city of Chicago, it was found that delinquency is concentrated in specific areas. This area where crime is concentrated (as ascribed by Park and Burgess) is known as Zone 2 the zone in transition. Shaw and McKay found that crime is concentrated in zone 2 and as you move out into zones 3, 4, and 5 delinquency decreases accordingly.…

Since that time I have only gone kayaking once and that was on Black Creek in Churchville, New York. I have looked at many kayaks and equipment that goes with it. The one kayak that popped out at me the most is the EZG 42 wavesport. The place I would go kayaking is called Black River; it is near Watertown, New York.…

There was no escaping the lingering death traps surrounding the ship, without waiting for the frozen sea to release them. So they waited, for thirteen months, hunting seals and making warm clothes out of blankets (“Roald Amundsen”). This is one of many stories of Artic pioneers who have endured the treacherous components the Artic has to offer. Artic explorers are under recognized adventurers who endure life-threatening conditions and enhance our knowledge of uninhabited places.…

    Snow

In Lisa See’s “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,” we are introduced to several scenes that break the norm of the time the book took place. In 19th century China, which is the general time period of this book, women were in the unfortunate situation of being treated more as property than human beings. It was a patriarchal society, and women were only there to bring men sons and care for the children, as well as cook and make clothing. The unfortunate reality of this was, as seen through Lily’s eyes in this novel, it appears that women accepted this as the norm, and saw very little fault with it. Although they did write to each other in their secret writing and discuss it at times, they did not see it as something wrong with society, but rather as just the way life was, as this is how their families were raised, and this is how they would raise their own children. Women were confined to an upstairs chamber for much of their lives. In this chamber, they would have their feet bound at a very young age, to make them more beautiful to men and get them better husbands. This torturous event in their lives was dangerous and in reality gave them almost a form of a handicap throughout the rest of their lives. When girls were born, they were seen as a burden on the family, as they were simply another mouth to feed for years, until they married off to another family. Interesting enough, however, in Lisa See’s novel, she takes her main characters out of this situation in several instances. The most notable and obvious is during the Taiping Revolution, in which Lily is visiting Snow Flower and staying at her house, when they awake to smoke and horse hooves. The Imperial Troops had been sent to drive out the rebels, and the villages were being destroyed amidst the fighting. To avoid this, Lily followed Snow Flower and the Butcher into the nearby mountains to escape. In this part of the novel, we…
