Sun Peaks Resort
We all are humans and sometimes we get tired from the weekdays’ routine. There are many ways to “hang out”. Some people prefer pubs or clubs, others just lay on the sofa watching TV. But there are so many places in the world worth visiting. Sun Peaks is a well-known resort which is open 365 days a year. Guests enjoy award-winning downhill skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing in the winter. Summer activities include hiking, golfing and downhill mountain biking. Sun Peaks ski resort's European-style village offers a wide selection of accommodations, restaurants and shopping boutiques to suit a variety of tastes.
Sun Peaks is a small nice village situated 50km from Kamloops. Resort got shuttles with flexible schedule. The ski area is nestled at the base of three mountains: Tod Mountain, Sundance and Mt. Morrisey and 12 ski lifts. In 2003 Sun Peaks opened “Tube Time” to allow for recreational tubing at the resort. There is also Adventure Centre for those who don’t like skiing or snowboarding, it offers variety of rambles and perambulations, snowmobile trips or individual and group ski lessons. Kids ski school is located there. Teachers are very kind, funny and in the same time strict, skilled guys, so children are under control.
The first lift was opened in the beginning of the 60s. Unfortunately, there was a great fire in 1968 it was damaged and closed for repairs until the 70s. Prior to July 1993 Sun Peaks Resort had a name Tod Mountain, named after the highest ski mountain there. In 1992 it was purchased by Tokyo cable company and transformed into Sun Peaks.
No one including beginners won’t feel uncomfortable because mountain staff is very polite and helpful, making a pleasant atmosphere.
The infrastructure at Sun Peaks is really awesome. It has 122 runs divided on four groups: Green (for beginners), Blue (intermediate), Black (expert) and Double Black (for insane, probably)
