The parents of Anjum a little girl who is new to your setting moved to England only 3 months ago. Yours is the first setting that they have used for 18 month old Anjum. They have very little understanding of the legislation covering home based childcare or the role of the regulatory body.
Consider 4 pieces of legislation that are important for home based childcares and how you would outline these to Anjum’s parents?
How would you go about outlining the 4 different roles of the regulatory body to Anjum’s parents?
ANSWER:
As OFSTED registered home based child-minder I would like make sure that children under my care are happy and developed new skills with certainty. To verify that I would advise Anjum’s parents about the four pieces of legislation that are significant to home based child minders.
To provide that information I would first find out how good is their communication in English language and if English is not good enough I would arrange information in their own language, but if English was good enough I would have a verbal conversation with them on pre- arrange meeting. I would firstly explain to them about The Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (OFSTED)that regulates and inspects childcare and children's social care and is making sure that all the Legislations are put into practise and that I am covering all those legislations into my settings of care. I would explain the roles of the regulatory bodies:
-I would tell them about my registration with Ofsted that covers checks that were made with me and people living with me over 16 year old, as well as my house where I have started up child caring business.
-I would explain about inspection that are carried out on the service that I am offering to Anjum after my registration. I would also told the parents about report that is available on the Ofsted website and it’s available to look thorough. If internet access is limited to
