If there ever was an idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: the organization of NCAA being more concerned with the amount of money it could make of students playing for “free” versus compensating athletes for their hard work and commercial value. Isn’t that like saying an adult should work four years for free? Whatever happened to the fact that professional athletes are being compensated a certain amount of money for being on the cover of a video game but student athletes are ‘amateurs’ and therefore can’t be paid? I happen to sympathize with the student athletes who sign a scholarship letter of intent which contains a fully professional job description. As a student athlete you are a slave of your coaches, they have the power to take away your scholarship and possibly your future if you don’t do what they say.
