Who is Responsible for Macbeth's Downfall?
The play Macbeth begins with Scotland beating the Norwegian's in a battle which Macbeth and Banquo are claimed to be responsible for. On the way back Macbeth and Banquo are met by three witches who say “All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!” “All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!” “All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!”

With this in mind he tells his wife all this in a letter. When the king comes to stay at Macbeth’s castle Macbeth's wife convinces him that he should kill Duncan. When this happens it begins to show Macbeth's downfall.
Why was Macbeth written Macbeth was written during King James I rein. Macbeth shows the story of a man killing the monarch then going mad and dying. This was a way of showing the public that if they killed the king misfortune would fall on them, which the king liked the idea of.

There are the witches who told Macbeth he would become king and made him think that he couldn't be killed because “... none of women born shall harm Macbeth...” and “... Macbeth shall never vanquished be, until Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill...” which suggested to Macbeth that no one could kill or defeat him. Another person who aided Macbeth's downfall was Lady Macbeth who when told of the witches prophecy persuaded Macbeth to kill Duncan and leave his sons in the frame for it when Duncan arrived to celebrate Macbeth defeating the Norwegians.
The other person who could be held responsible for Macbeth being killed is Macbeth himself. When he had killed King Duncan he then felt that he needed to kill Banquo and his son, and Macduffs family before becoming careless in his preparation for the battle.
