Why Is Staffing Important to an Organization Essay Example
HR: Staffing Staffing is one of the most important functions to an organization. In small organizations, the owner or manager is responsible of staffing. Major organizations like Macy’s, Disneyland and Costco have a department that mainly deals with staffing; and it is the Human Resources department. Back then, this was also known as the personnel department. Since then, this department has altered many tasks, but staffing is the primary purpose to human resources. Staffing is the efforts designed to attract, hire, train, develop, reward and retain the people needed to accomplish an organization’s goals and promote job satisfaction (Plunkett 316). Staffing is followed up by organizing which links people and process. People create an organization’s intellectual capital that which makes the organization unique and separates it from its competition. The human resources managers also plan, organize staff, coordinate and control the organization not only the employees but the organizations itself.
As management in HR, there is a lot with staffing. Inequality is a major concern; the Civil Rights Act and numerous Title VII affect every part of HR management. Equal employment opportunity (EEO) is the concept that all individuals should have equal treatment in all employment related actions. The main focus of EEO is discrimination. It is illegal for employers to discriminate people due to their race, gender or some other factors. Laws and legal principles act as controls on managers who discharge staffing responsibilities. Enforcement of EEO laws and regulations must be seen as a work in progress that is inconsistent and confusing at times. The court system is left to resolve the disputes and interpret the laws. Often the lower courts have issued conflicting rulings and interpretations. The ultimate interpretation often has rested on decisions by the U.S Supreme Court, although those rulings also have been interpreted differently. The Equal Employment Opportunity
