1)Functional Styles.
Stylistics-is a brunch of linguistics.
The word“stylistics”originated from the latin”stylus”which means a pen. S has 2 intodependent tasks:
1.to invertigate inventory of special language media,which secure the desirable effect of the utterance. 2.to study certain types of texts(discourse) which due to the choice and arrangement of language means are distinguished by pragmatic aspect of the communication.
The types of the texts are called functional styles (FS)That’s why the most important trend in S is called Functional Stylistics
.Most scholers except the classification which singles out the following
FS:
1.the belles-lettre FS.This style embraces numerous of genres of creative writing,whith substyles of: a)poetry,
b)emotive prose,
c)drama.
This style may be called the richest register of communication.It’s used to ipress the reader aethetically.In this style we may find the elements of different styles.
2.publicistic style.With the substyles of:
a)oratory,
b)essay, c)feature articles in newspapers or magazeens.
The main aim of this style-to persuade,to impress the reader or listener.The style has strong subjectiveness?reflecning the authors personal feelings and emotions.
3.the newspaper style.Has different substyles:
a)brief news,items and communiqué, b)newspaper headings,
c)notices and advertisement
.Not everything,which is published in newspaper can be included in newspaper style (publicistic essays,feature articles) Newspapers eve special headings, space ordering.There are a lot of dates, personal names of countries, institutions and individuals.To achive the effect of objectiveness,a lot of informanion published anonymously.
4.the scientific prose FS.With the substyles of:
a)humanities,
b)exact science c)popular-scientific prose.
The main characteristics are:logical cohension,repeated use of clichés.
5.the official document FS.There are many substyles:
a)diplomatic documents,
b)business documents,
