In the movie entitled “The First Knight”, there is an inscription carved on the table, - “In serving each other we become free”. A Knight literally means a servant or someone who serves a Lord or a King. To make it a better statement it would be “In serving one another we become knights”. Not just a knight who serves but a knight of freedom.
According to Grail Knight, service to others is at the very heart and soul of a true knighthood. A knight who is too proud to serve is no knight at all. Serving others should always come from the heart. King Arthur: “Here we believe that every life is precious, even the lives of strangers. If you must die, die serving something greater than yourself- better still, Live and serve”. Service to those that are in need is what defines the vocation of knighthood. May those of us who aspire to knighthood, never become too proud to serve, when called upon to do so.
Just like what Anuradha Koirala did, she was awarded as a CNN Hero last 2011 and yet she didn’t feel proud instead she encouraged all the people to help and make our society free of human trafficking. She helped 12,000 victims and saved them from their misery. She cared for them and treated them as her own daughters. And by doing that she had already set them free from suffering and she gave them a new hope in living and to continue fighting against human traffickers.
This incident proved that by helping each other or caring for each other, we become free from our miseries or sufferings. Whether we are on a war zone or in a hopeless state. As long as we’re all in this together, we can do anything. Serving someone doesn’t always mean being someone like a slave, but in being able to serve others whole-heartedly without any hard feelings we begin to explore more about life. That life is not always getting the best for
