My featured painting today entitled The Night was painted by Max Beckmann during 1918 and 1919. It is housed at the Kunstammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen‚ Dusseldorf. This is an early example of Beckmann’s grotesque and appalling visionary paintings with its misshapen figures. Before us we have an overcrowded room in a modern city. Beckman himself said he wanted this work to be looked upon as a large modern history painting tinged with a sense of evil. Three men have invaded the room and are terrorising

Night—Loss of faith The screams of the beating being given‚ the constant bells controlling everyone like how strings control a puppet‚ everybody was now a robot with little to no emotion following out orders ad doing labor nonstop; this is how Eliezer‚ Shlomo‚ and the rest of the Jewish people would have to live for a period of long drawn out years. Loss of faith. What is the loss of faith? I believe the loss of faith is the will for someone to carry on acting how they would have acted before an

Night Essay Have you ever noticed that when people are in a difficult struggle‚ they seem in a bad mood and often turn into brutes? In the book Night by Elie Wiesel‚ a teenaged boy goes through a horrific experience during the holocaust. In the beginning‚ he watched friendly people turn into starving savage beasts. In twelfth night‚ Malvolio starts off as a legitimate comic target‚ as the way that he acts towards certain characters in the play shows us that he could be considered more of a villain. I do not believe that we‚ as an audience‚ feel sympathy for Malvolio in the early stages of the play as we see his treatment of others‚ namely Sir Toby‚ Sir Andrew and Maria. This is shown when Malvolio reprimands Sir Toby and Sir Andrew. Malvolio threatens Sir Toby‚ telling him that Olivia will throw him out if

William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night introduces a wise fool named Feste. As a licensed fool‚ Feste plays an integral role within the plot of the play. Feste acts as the voice of reason in a play filled with cross-dressing‚ disguises‚ confusion‚ trickery‚ and chaos. Feste has the ability to break down the barrier between the cast on stage and the audience members‚ while also embodying the festivities of the feast of the Epiphany and the beginning of Carnival. Even though Feste is called a fool in name
