ABSTRACT This article describes the development of a component technology based robot workcell that can be rapidly configured to perform a specific manufacturing task. The workcell is conceived with standard and inter-operable components including actuator modules‚ rigid link connectors and tools that can be assembled into robots with arbitrary geometry and degrees of freedom. The reconfigurable "plug-and-play" robot modeling algorithms are developed based on the Local Product-Of-Exponentials formulation

t’s 2035 A.D.‚ where robots are everyday objects and are programmed to live alongside humans. Detective Del Spooner is called out to investigate the apparent suicide of the scientist behind these robots‚ Dr. Alfred Lanning. Spooner suspects that the death might not be a suicide‚ but the result of one of the robots. All robots are programmed by three laws‚ but Spooner starts to wonder if a robot can in fact feel emotions‚ and possibly murder. But if Spooner’s suspicions are true‚ he is going to have

makes you think about how technology and robots could one day overrule or over power humans and take over earth. The image that I have chosen is a movie poster of the movie transformers which has two robots face to face that have human like features or the same build that are both at war with eachother. The poster is also trying to explain the story of how both robots are from another planet by placing them above earth looking down on humans. The idea of robots‚ technology and war is shown through colour

‘Filthies‚’ a suggestively sub-human race. These rejects of society are thought of as worthless by the rest of the population‚ the “lucky” ones that aren’t worked to death‚ are taken up and transformed into ‘Menials.’ Once this is done‚ they become robot like creatures that brainlessly do the bidding of their masters in the Upper Decks‚ like pets‚ they are ordered around mostly taking up jobs involving catering and domestic work. The system of class is similar to that of our world in that time period

familiar with the ‘ROBOTS’. So‚ the question is that‚ “WHAT IS A ROBOT?” The answer lies here: A robot is a mechanical or virtual artificial agent‚ usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by a computer program or electronic circuitry. Robots can be autonomous‚ semi-autonomous or remotely controlled and range from humanoids such as ASIMO and TOPIO to Nano robots‚ ’swarm ’ robots‚ and industrial robots. By mimicking a lifelike appearance or automating movements‚ a robot may convey a sense

ROBOTIC’s The dictionary meaning of robot is a mechanical man or a more than humanly efficient automation. It is an automatic apparatus or device that performs functions ascribed to human beings or operates with what appears to be almost human intelligence. But this defamation does not give a human shape to the robot. The robot does the work of a human being. The Robot Institute of America has given a very interesting definition on an Industrial robot. Industrial robots are usually used at industries

Have you ever used a robot before? You may not have realized that robots aren’t only large machines that resemble a human. A robot is a machine that can carry out one or more tasks by commanding or programming. Therefore‚ an automated vacuum cleaner‚ computer‚ and automatic lawn mower are considered robots. The appearance of robots without their human appearances might surprise you . They have many effective advantages that make work better for many people. This does not change the fact‚ however

Chapter 6 Lesson 1: A Glimpse of Robotics Technology I. Introduction • Robots are commonly named as a machine that imitates a human. • Made by human for human benefit. • One factor is for human safety. -an example is the Mars Rover Sojoumer‚ it goes to a place where it is too dangerous for humans. • Has been used to handle nuclear and radioactive chemicals for many diff. uses including nuclear weapons‚ and processing of certain drugs. • Also perform tedious and unpleasant task such

newer innovations coming forth every year. Robots in the home have already begun with robot-like machines like the robotic vacuum and automated coffee machines. Now the everyday folks‚ non-specialists outside the field of robotics‚ need a spokesman in the field to break it all down in laymen terms and illustrate some concepts and ideas of robots in the future and what one’s home may include in the future. Donald A. Norman does just that in “Emotional Robots”‚ an excerpt from his 2004 book Emotional

In the article‚ “NASA’s Valkyrie robots set the table for human life on Mars‚” by Matt O’Brien the author informs the reader of NASA’s plan‚ to send robots to Mars as part of a construction team that sets up structures for human explorers. But first NASA is trying to find new homes at universities where engineers can tinker with these robots. Their goal is to make these robots able to work independently and construct major structures for the colonization of Mars. That this is a major jump from a
