Health and safety is checked and preserved in a number of ways within the setting, there is a Healthy and Safety policy, which is given out to all the staff, defining the key areas. Staff training is kept up to date. Risk assessments are carried out frequently involving a daily check of the environment which is being used these are done by our Health and Safety deputy, a full risk assessment of tools, equipment and the environment is carried out termly. The setting deputy is responsible for health and safety and any risks recognised should be focused to him, he then decides the best procedure to correct them. Regular staff meetings are held where any issues can be raised. Children, parents staff and visitors are made aware of any issues concerning health and safety to help lessen any risks and to certify children are able to thrive in a healthy environment.
It is our duty to ensure all children are kept safe and free from threat; any undertakings should have the child’s health and safety as the key consideration. Any infections or rashes are reported to the nursery manager and letters sent home with their child to inform them of any findings and also information on dealing with the outbreak.
