1 Corinthians is a blunt discussion about the Church and the issues that concern the Corinthian church. The Corinthian congregation was tarnished with sin on various sides, therefore, Paul gave them an essential model, in order for them to learn how the church should take care of the issues and problems within the church.
1 Corinthians talks about the reports that Paul he got from the household of Chloe, which relayed information concerning issues in the Corinthian church, which is stated in 1 Corinthians, chapter seven, verse one. In this letter
to the Corinthian church members, Paul addresses various distinctive issues identified with both life and principle, which included: daily living, fights and divisions, sexual prevision, civil lawsuits among followers, marriage, freedom in Christ, church worship, the correct usage of spiritual gifts, and the meaning of the Lord’s Supper. Paul, also incorporated a significant teaching about the resurrection.
Paul’s letter probably was not received well because there were at least four different stations of people that made up the membership in the Corinthian church who had different beliefs. The four stations of people include, the Paul’s Party (Libertines), they accepted Paul’s message of freedom from the law, the Cephas Party (Judaizers), their beliefs favored Christians strictly acknowledging the traditional Jewish ways, the Apollos’s Party, they were followers of Apollos who was devoted to teachings of classical Greek viewpoint and the Christ party, they thought of themselves to be above the others that focused on regular principles.
Paul approaches the issues head on, instead of neglecting the social separation and various types of immorality. Through this bold request for pureness in the Corinthian church, Paul clearly states he was prepared to risk the good beliefs of many, so he can clean the sins that corrupted the church.
