If the car had no drivetrain it could not drive, and the owner would be forced to push the car everywhere. A car’s drivetrain contains the engine, transmission, and driveshaft. The name Boss 302 was given by Ford because they used a 302 ci engine in the Mustang. The engine placed in the Boss 302 was given a little bit extra. Ford gave the engine a four valve carburetor to help the engine produce 290 horsepower and 290 foot pounds of torque. The transmission is another key component in the drivetrain. The transmission’s main purpose is to shift the gears and keep the engine’s RPMs low. The car’s transmission is powered by the crankshaft of the engine. In 1970 the standard transmission for a Boss 302 was a 4-speed manual, but one could opt out and choose to have an automatic. The last major part of the drivetrain is the driveshaft. Without a driveshaft the car’s wheels would be unable to move. The driveshaft of the car is attached to and controlled by …show more content…
The 1970 Mustang was a four passenger car with front bucket seats and a fold down backseat. The seats were covered with vinyl and available in Black, White, Ivy, Ginger, and Vermillion. The interior also came decked out with vinyl sail panels, headliner, door panels, and armrests. The back of the interior was covered in plastic pieces, such as the rear armrests, that were the same color as the seats. The car’s four windows provide the passengers protection from wind, bugs, and the sun. The Mustang had little quarter windows, which could open up to allow a slight breeze inside. With no interior the passengers are subject to wind and sun, and would have to sit on the floor to drive the car. In 1970 Ford created a Mustang better than all others, the Boss 302. One can breakdown what makes up a Mustang into things ranging from a little screw to the entire fender. The easiest way to divide the car into the fewest parts is the body, the chassis, the drivetrain, and the interior. My personal favorite part of the car is the body, because the body is what first attracted me to the car. If one of these components were missing or different than they are the Mustang would either not be the car it was designed to be or not even work at
