The First Amendment
In my opinion freedom of speech and First Amendment rights are crucial to higher education because For One, Freedom of speech is the right for an individual to speak their mind without interfering with the law and the First Amendment is the law respecting an establishment of religion , the right to free expression, infringing on the freedom of the press, and freedom of belief. Which all ties into education itself sine the majority of it is sourly based on communication. For Instance, if the public was not able to possess freedom of speech than people would be force to be fastidious about the things they say. Politics, Speech in the classroom, Speech related to college and university governance, or Research related speech are all prime examples of why higher education is critical to the first amendment and freedom of speech. Even faculty members see continuing aggressive challenges to what they are allowed to say publicly or through an email privately. If you ask me, faculty members, academic professionals, or anyone should have a right to freely express themselves both in the classroom and externally because we all play an important role in providing necessary criticism, insight and invention to society. Ineffective or bad communication is equivalent to not exhibiting your opinions. Lets just say that freedom of speech wasn't technically a law. This may cause the majority of public speakers to assume and become fickle about what they say and may lead to a barrier in learning. There would be a lot more prejudice people out there in the world, we wouldn't be allowed to talk freely, or choose our own religion. This would also make it difficult to communicate without the right to press and assemble. If our society was withdrawn of Freedom of speech and the first Amendment, this may even cause rebellion towards society and more reclusive actions. Education on the other hand will have to be based on statistics instead of opinionated. Having the first amendment present in education is a cause that leads to the effect of choices and personal input on various occasions. It gives any individual the right to a yes, or no. It also helps to give a more broad outlook on the world around you. When dealing with education, you have to be able to think outside of the box and see life in many perspectives. Freedom of speech and the First Amendment both aid the process because most of the time, we do not realize the importance of communication in our day-to-day professional life and is mostly overlooked. To wrap up why the First Amendment and Freedom of speech are both crucial to higher education, I've come to the conclusion that they're both beneficial to our wary mind sets. They can both lead to the apex or the nadir of ones knowledge and success depending on the way they're put forward and the way you express yourself in education or in any other aspect of life. Moving On, Abuse of Freedom of speech and or the First Amendment whether done physically, mentally, or emotionally can harm ones college experience by making it difficult to express themselves. Morose actions or languid feelings can come because a person is not able to fully expand their knowledge and add an personal input. Your college moments are the times where you should be comfortable to go beyond what is expected of you and any type of abuse towards amendment rights or Freedom of speech can mean that your putting your education in jeopardy. In other words, putting communication in jeopardy can cause hardship to plenty open doors around you.
Lets just say that you as a person has poor communication skills, chances are that you can misunderstand your goals, abilities, and expected duties. Likewise, if over seers lack good communication skills , they are less likely to ask for needed clarification or assistance. Poor communication leads to misunderstandings, which often leads to mistakes being made and can jeopardize any type of college experience for worse. On the other hand,Effective communication can help you better understand a person or situation, which can boost ones college experience.
All In All, While completing this research paper I've came to the conclusion that communication is the key to anything you do in life. Whether it be education, work, business, and or life itself. The Amendment and Freedom of speech play an extremely important roll and if not abused, they both can take you farther than you would expect.

America, land of the free. America, a country based in many ways on the freedom of press, and the freedom of speech. But what would happen to this great country, tis of thee, if these precious rights had ceased to exist? America, the land of liberty and home of the brave, would hold a great stock of uninformed and uneducated community, ready to rise up to anarchy at any moment; a crowd of undiverse and ununified people; and a population of souls unwilling to create because of the ever looming presence of big brother.…

I think that by allowing students to censor the topics or views which they don’t approve of, society is actually polarizing students’ opinions of various situations on college campuses. If there is one “widely accepted view” because others have been by and large censored out, then anyone holding a different view would be more stringently opposed. In turn, those with this nonconformist view end up feeling attacked and are forced to go on the defensive. At that point instead of being able to have an informed discussion and debate the validity of each other’s opinions, neither side can sit down and have a rational discussion without attacking the other, or feeling attacked…

This freedom is great for the United States. Writers may not be able to compose books or speeches without the freedom of speech and press. This liberty is one that citizens have to be careful with because although there is freedom of speech, there is also the freedom to criticize someone else's speech. Those who speak are expected to take responsibility and accept the consequences that may come with what they say. In addition to being able to speak freely, this amendment prevents the government from censoring newspapers, publications, and much of the Internet.…

The Second Amendment and the right to bear arms has always been a part of American culture and history, the right to bear arms is as American as apple pie and westerns, but it has and always will be a hot topic and the wording and meaning of the Second Amendment comes into question frequently. The currently accepted meaning of the Second Amendment is that it gives militias and individuals the right to bear arms, the right to own firearms (“Second Amendment to the United States Constitution”). However even though the right to bear arms is given to every American it can be revoked, many states have sensible laws that restrict where you can take a firearm and who can own them, and many Americans support these restrictions even though they technically…

The first amendment guarantees every American citizen certain rights, one of them, also the most important amendment, is freedom of speech. Freedom of speech supports the other four guarantees press, assembly, religion and petition. Free speech is a crossroad in certain law across the country, one of the more controversial and most important one is on college campuses. The place where the people of our future generation go to learn and expand is being put down by administrations and other higher personnel. If college is not a forum for an exchange of ideas, then the purpose of college does not exist. There has been court decisions regarding this topic in colleges and universities and the courts have not decided a side. When one decision from the court goes for the students to be able to have free speech another vote goes against the students and for authority. The question that is begged to be asked, have restrictions of free speech in colleges and universities become too restricted? Does the first amendment collapse on universities and colleges campuses? Freedom of speech on campuses is extremely important and needs to be granted to all students everywhere. Although, it will be shown, this is not the normal in today’s society. In today’s society fair freedom of speech, the most significant guarantee of the First Amendment is most required to be found on college campuses; however it isn’t every campus. On the climate of freedom of speech of college campuses a distraction must be made between public and private colleges, because freedom of speech primarily functions differently between the two.…
