In a nursery they are many hazard which are potentially dangerous for the service users; young children. To help minimize risks and keep children safe these hazards must be identified. We have analysed a nursery which accommodates children from 2 months to 5 years and identified 6 potential hazards.
The first hazard we identified was a door which didn’t have any kind of guard. This could allow a child to trap their finger in the gap. This could result in either a minor cut or bruise or a more serious crush injury.
The second hazard we identified was chairs being left untucked from tables. As chair are at child’s height and children have little since of danger it is likely a child could tip over or run into a chair. This could result in broken …show more content…
A child could pull down the drink onto themselves. This could result in serious burns.

Legislation, policy and procedures have been developed and updated to ensures that health and social care, service users in Britain are protected and receive a good and consistent quality of care. Their are several key legislations which work towards this purpose and influence service delivery.
The care standards act of 2000 is an act which crates national standards which service providers in any health and social care setting must meet. This influences service delivery as all service providers must be vetted (through a Criminal records bureau check) to ensure that they have no previous conviction which would omit them from working with children and vulnerable adults.
The control of substance hazards to health act of 2002 provides directions of how to store and handle chemicals which are classed are dangerous (including those hazards to human health). This influence service delivery as service providers must follow procedures to store cleaning materials, label hazardous materials and how to deal with bodily fluids and corrosive or flammable liquids
