There were select groups of white men who realized the abuses of slavery and worked to abolish it. Not many white people admired these abolitionists, but as time went by their support was increased. In the 17 century europeans community in North America turned black people as slave, and some historians have estimated that six to seven million black slaves were imported to the New World during the 18th century. They were working mainly on the tobacco, rice and other plantations in colonies in Georgia, Virginia, and Maryland. In the 18th century in the fields they were using to grow tobacco, they were growing slavery even more because slavery was based on their economy, they wanted to continue slavery in the south, around this time in the 18th the markets of the textile industry in England led to a huge interest in American due to their growth of cotton in the south where the slaves were working, which was also a southern crop whose production was unfortunately limited by the difficulty of removing the seeds from raw cotton fibers by hand. Between the years 1774 and 1804, all of the northern states abolished slavery while slavery became absolutely fundamental in the south. In 1863 Lincoln forced that “slaves within any State, or designated part of a State…in rebellion,…shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.” He was able to free over 3 million black slaves in the south. And finally Americans began a Civil War into slavery, the North wanted their freedom, and the South wanted to continue slavery, Nobody had any idea that this war would become the deadliest war in American history. It was not a traditional war, it was a civil war conflicting the Union in the North and the Confederate States in the South, The Civil War cost many people’s lives on the battlefield and beyond, It also costed an extreme amount of money for the nation which possibly could have been avoided if the war had turned to happen a little differently.
