traffickers are experts at their jobs and it’s the reason why people join this successful business. The slavery business is an exertion industry that is still presently relevant in today’s society but it could be changed by knowing how it all works. People always turn their heads in the opposite direction when they hear the word modern slavery in the United States because not a soul would like to acknowledge the fact that it is still relevant in our United States may not even admit to it happening, but what they don’t realize is that anyone can be a part of it of the process. It is common in our country because victims are trapped in slavery businesses such as the food, agriculture and the sex industry, these are just a few of them. Everyone goes to shops like if it were nothing but realizing that you are speaking with a slave is frightening because it’s happening right in front of your eyes. What’s sad about our society is that they don’t realize that modern slavery is still a current issue. They at least know the basic facts about the 13th amendment abolishing slavery in 1865, but they don't our current times well enough. When we think about slaves, we only tend to think about colored people but that is not true because traffickers will take anyone that is vulnerable, like this girl named Ayesha. She said that her trafficker stated that he had everything that needed to make her a better singer and that the trafficker will make her famous, she believed it. Traffickers are experts at manipulating the mind and it is why it is still current in our period. They use baits in order for you to believe their words and that is why many people get trapped into today’s nightmare. Traffickers bait specific people and they are people who you might have imagined, they target immigrants coming into the United States and according to Kevin Bales, he has states that we don’t realize is that slaves are consistently sold around the borders of the United States. It's not hard to acknowledge why they would target immigrants because they don’t speak English really well. If you didn’t know, the typical slave age is frightening because they are lower than what you would of expect, “Slaves are as young as twelve to fourteen years old” (The Slave Next Door). When you think about your parents being really overprotective, it is not because they don’t want you to socialize, it is so they can make sure that you are not trapped in this slavery industry for years. Traffickers are always looking for victims because they are making sure to make money every night. Statistically speaking, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children stated that “As many as 2.8 million children run away each year in the United States, in those first two days of being solo, one out of every three of those children is lured into the sex trade”. There are many children in the sex industry because most of the children are vulnerable in the environment around them it doesn’t matter what age you are because according to the Girls Educational and Mentoring Services, they have states that “Victims are 55 percent female and that 5.5 million of all the victims are children.”Based off of these facts, we know that a handful of children are a victim of slave trafficking and It is truly heartbreaking to know that a vast majority is part of sex trafficking because we don’t realize that it can be one of us and possibly one of your family members. It is a scary reality world because traffickers put people through hard times and difficult for them to find a way out. Victims try their hardest to escape the slavery industry, but it's the fear that makes them not want to escape. Owning the victim is the goal of the trafficker because they want to manipulate the victim into thinking that the business is a casual place.
After the trafficker makes the victim think that the interview is going well, they hand them a contract and this is where nightmare dawns to their life. Victims will take out high-interest loans and might even sell their family property because as claimed by CNN, Victims pay for a high towering recruitment fee. Which it is usually about $6,000 on average. In some cases, there have been victims that have signed up to $25,000. It is no question why the industry is so successful because money is the only reason why traffickers do it. From the high numbers you have seen, John Haltiwanger stated a report of the United State’s slave industry of being up to $250 billion! This slavery industry is the reason why traffickers love their jobs, it makes easy money for them but most of us don’t even know who they are. The word trafficker is just a term that people don’t know about because they identifying one is difficult, the most common one is our employers. To those 71% of victims that come into the United States legally are sent to acquire a visa for their job. When they arrive here they are coached in order to receive a visa from the U.S. Odyssey. Since their visa is tied to their job, there’s almost no way to escape because the victim is risking deportation. They have no choice but to work with the trafficker because today’s laws are not …show more content…
protective enough. Physical capacity isn’t a thing for the traffickers because they go through stages of beating. The beatings are already hard enough, but it is also followed by extra hours of hard labor. According to Food for Thought, they’ve stated that “(victim) often were enticed with assurances of an hourly rate, but once they showed up in the U.S., they were paid on a much lower piece-rate basis. Many reported being forced to live in squalid conditions, and threatened with deportation.” This is genuine news in our United States and so many of our Citizens aren’t aware of these concrete facts because no one knows that it is right in front of our eyes. A reason to aware of your surroundings is because some victims of the slave industry are too scared to seek help because they don’t want to be charged for prostitution or face deportation, this is why the seeking to make laws better is crucial.
Ending slavery takes the whole humanity to stop it but that doesn’t make it impossible.
It is crucial to abolish slavery because anyone can be involved, including yourself. The problem with our U.S. Society is that no one knows how to spot a victim from slavery. The Health & Medicine Week says that nurses and other health care providers who encounter victims of trafficking often don't realize it. It is one of the reasons why our society needs to be more educated and more aware. Another way to save our modern society is to educate other people about their rights because we don’t want America to be known as the hotspot for slavery. Knowing that our border officials, embassy employees, immigration attorney, and law enforcement not being well educated is an alarm for us because that means that we are not doing enough to stop slavery. Speaking out to these agencies is crucial because protecting human beings is the goal. This could result in creating stronger laws to save our victims because there has been cases where the victim has been deported for reporting his case to the officials. You may think that you are alone in the process of helping to abolish modern slavery but there are many organizations that are trying to help out the community like the most accredited organization called the Free the Slaves. Spreading the word about slavery in the United States is crucial because we don’t want to blame the victim. Speak up and act on it in order for your generosity to be a domino
effect.
Our modern society is scary because people are only educated about our past, but no one is looking into our present nor future. It’s the reason why it’s pivotal to teach others about the U.S. slavery because no one has acknowledged it. There are way too many victims in the slavery industry and it has rocketed from the day it started. We don’t want victims to be baited from traffickers then realizing that they part of the trafficker's income. You wouldn’t like to know that your loved one has been brutally beaten up, it is one of the reasons why it should be spoken up about. Our next step is to convince the officials to make stronger laws to help our victims because as our population is growing exponentially, maybe the numbers of trafficker will also go up so that’s why it’s crucial to end it now before slavery in the United States spreads like wildfire. There’s no plan b to stopping slavery, it’s either you save a life or you don't.
