Although this collection of cells begin to organize rapidly into the brain, nervous system, circulatory system, muscles, and skeletal structure, the appearance for many weeks is grotesque, not even resembling human form. The point at which I think the life can be considered human is when brain signals can be detected and the fetus has taken on a human appearance. This occurs around 12 weeks. Until this point I do not consider abortion to be the taking of a human life. However after 3 months, abortion, is not justified unless there was a great danger to the mother's life. In fact, this is the point at which the embryo (a swelling) changes its name to be a fetus (meaning young one or…

Many different contexts play a part in forming our identity. Where you live, who you live with, how financially strong you are all contribute to your perception of troubled times. If you live in a slum – like the boys from “Trash” by Andy Mulligan – then your identity, life and perception of troubled times would be different to that of a person from a 1st world country such as Australia. In my essay, I will demonstrate why troubled times differ depending on our contexts. I will explain why our geographical, personal, financial, working and political contexts shape our perception of troubled times…

The perceived foetal movement known as quickening was only historically relevant. Quickening was the only way for a mother to know with certainty that she is pregnant. It had a morally significance in so far as the movement signalled the existence of another being. Now we do not have any reason to believe as Aristotle had that life and sensation begins at quickening. Even the actual foetal movement as compared to the conceived foetal movement is not a promising criterion in the presence of much more sophisticated criteria, such as, brain wavs, initial brain activity and cortical brain activity.…

A boarding school is a school where some or all students study and live during the school year with their fellow students and possibly teachers and/or administrators. The word 'boarding' is used in the sense of "bed and board," i.e., lodging and meals. Some boarding schools also have day students that attend the institution by day and return off-campus to their families in the evenings. Some students enjoy it, some tolerate it, and some hate it. Everybody has something to say about the school they have been to. Having spent the better part of one’s formative years in any institution one naturally has strong feelings about it. I believe I am a better person because of having spent the formative years in a boarding school.…
