3.03 Stress Management Essay
This essay is on stress, which is a natural part of everybody’s life. The ways that we deal with stress is different however, and some methods are more effective than others. The three methods that I have found are the most effective for me would be yoga, journaling, and walking. I am under a great deal of stress a lot of the time so these techniques are extremely helpful for me. The first way that I deal with stress is through yoga. Yoga is a very good technique because for me it not only helps my body stretch out and relax but it helps my mind to do the same. I enjoy to do yoga with my little sister and she is a great partner because her and I are very close and it is a great thing to kind of just relax and let the stress from that day go. She and I talk about our day at school and that helps to get things off my chest and she sometimes gives me advice, which is great when it comes to the stress from just everyday things. The second stress technique I use is to journal. Journaling is a great tool for me because it helps me to write everything down and get it out of me, which is good because I’m not really somebody who tells people things about me. When I journal I can look back at things like what I did and how it affected me and my mood and that can help me determine things that cause stress in my life and can also help me see how I could have reacted differently and gotten a different result from a situation. Another great benefit from journaling is that I can look back and see things about a certain situation that I might not have seen whilst I was in it. The last stress reliever tool that I use is the exercise form of walking. Walking is a good method for me because when I walk I think and it’s just me and my thoughts and nothing to interrupt me. When I am out walking I get to be just me and it’s actually very similar to journaling because I get to think and look back and not have to worry about pleasing anybody else. Walking also helps to get me out

The first technique I used was imagery. After researching, I learned that in many studies imagery is used to reduce patient’s blood pressures. Basically its when you visualize in your head something that relaxes you or makes you happy. It could be you accomplishing a goal, doing an activity, or even a place. During the school week I often get overloaded with homework for hours. I sometimes stress on not being able to make a due date or not being able to finish on time and it leads to me giving up. This week in particular I felt like this. I took a five-minute break, lied down and imagined the last vacation I took. Imagining sounds such as the ocean hitting the rocks, smells such as the ocean water, touch such as the breeze against my hair and skin flowed the stress out of my body. I could feel my body heat decreasing, and my eyebrows unfurrowing. This is a great way to deal with…
