3d Printer Research Paper
I’ve always found pleasure in utilizing my creativity to invent. Recently, I have explored and developed new ways of creating through 3D printing. My endeavors in 3D printing take me places I never thought possible by a high school student. Currently, I have an internship with a product development company, I work as a contract manufacturer, and I collaborate with engineers in 3D printer development. These past educational experiences have prepared be to be a successful member of the ECU community. So how did I go from being an average high school freshman to being an experienced 3D printing tycoon? Two summers ago, I toured a 3D printing company in Sanford, NC and met engineers that graduated from ECU that are now develop new 3D printers. I instantly became fascinated by their work and knew I wanted to be an engineer inventing 3D printing technology. That day I went home and spent my entire savings on a 3D printer. Immediately my creativity ran wild as I thought of objects to 3D print. …show more content…
I was disheartened by the now useless machine, but today realize the broken printer is the best thing that could have happened to me. Utilizing my passion for engineering, I took the machine apart and fix it. With the 3D printer now in pieces on my bedroom floor, I discovered the machine was poorly designed. Studying the composition of the 3D printer, I invented a new printer that I could build from scratch. I faced obstacles throughout the construction process, but after one month of hard work, I finished my printer and printed my first object. Building this 3D printer served as a turning point in my self-confidence as I realized that I was capable of doing incredible things. Now I am living my dream of being an engineer by inventing better 3D
