Experience in managing projects: Demonstrated skills managing projects and / or complete in-house project manager training courses; outside knowledge competency such as the “PMP examination or an equivalent international project manager accreditation” (PMI, 2007, p. 2) is recommended; however, it is not required.

Although one of my company’s primary focuses is to conduct assessments for various tools and technologies, it is not a technology-driven organization. The company’s overall operational strategy is to provide unbiased assessments, regardless of the end-product. For example, an assessment may not entail determining a technology’s capabilities or its effectiveness, but may encompass providing guidance and recommendations on operational concepts and/or procedures to use when employing a technology in a given environment. The company views a project manager with a skillset that is comprehensive (well-rounded), is one who can provide a competitive edge by allowing the company to take on - and effectively manage - a variety of projects; some that are not technology related.
