The Amendments in the Constitution are very helpful. Each one is useful in making sure everyone is treated fairly and everyone gets rights. The 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th amendments are the ones I will explain today. They each play a specific role in making sure nobody is treated unfairly.
The 4th amendment protects people from the government searching through your things without a reason. For example, if somebody was walking down the street with a backpack on and the police walked by and randomly told you to hand over your backpack so they could search it but you weren't doing anything wrong, that is unfair. Things like that can't happen because of the 4th amendment. Another important amendment is the 5th one. It protects people from
double jeopardy. An example of this would be if a girl was accused of stealing a pencil but is found innocent. The next week the judge decides to bring her in again to have another trial. He can’t do this because the 5th amendment says you can’t.
The 6th amendment is very important also. It gives everyone the right to a trial by jury and everyone is entitled to a lawyer, even if you can’t afford it. Therefore, if you get charged for murder, you have the right to have a lawyer even if you don’t have the money to pay for it. You also have the right to a trial with a jury. The 8th amendment protects against excessive bail and cruel or unusual punishment. Let’s say you stole a package of gum from a gas station. You’re punishment couldn’t be 30 years in prison because that’s unfair. Also, you’re bail couldn’t be 1 million dollars because that's just crazy and unfair for such a small crime.
To conclude, every amendment has a purpose to keep things fair for everyone. Without the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th amendments, a lot of people would be unfairly punished or just would be treated unfairly in general. The amendments are supposed to be helpful. Each and everyone are for your benefit.
