The 9/11 memorial is 110,000 square feet and covers 16 acres. The memorial is located at the World Trade Center in New York. Where the Twin towers once stood are to waterfalls in there place. They are the largest manmade waterfalls in North America. Both Waterfalls are about an acre of land. There are the names of every person who died in 2001 and everyone from the bombing, at the World Trade Center, in 1993. There is a giant tree called the survivor tree which was leftover from when the bombing happened. It was the only tree that survived. The history of the 9/11 memorial all started in 1970.
On December 15, 1970 the North Tower was opened. People started to work at the North Tower and it got very full, very quickly. The South Tower was opened in January 1972 and on April 4th 1973 they had the ribbon cutting ceremony for the two towers. On September 19th 2001, the towers were attacked by terrorist. The terrorist had gotten planes and flown them into the towers. Many people died and it all started in 1970.
The 9/11 memorial has attracted people from all over the world to come and see. Most people go to visit to honor the people who died and some go to do research on what happened on September 11th 2001. The memorial gains money from the tours they give, the gift shop and admission. Over september 11th every year people go and put flowers by every person's name to honor them and every year they get the most people who go visit. The 9/11 memorial includes a gift shop, a personal bus line for transport and a tribute light that goes off on september 11th every year. The bus line can take you to the World trade center and then you can walk to the memorial. The building there has many exhibits that are fun for all ages. Twin Towers attack was one of the worst events in United States. Planes couldn’t fly around the country but America still honor the people who lose their lives with the 9/11 memorial.
