Gigi considered the idea as baking was another passion of hers. She realized, “that baking was a lost art that needed to be resurrected” (“Gigi’s Story”). Through all the ups and downs in her journey to meet her American dream, her store ‘Gigi’s Cupcakes’ is now one of the largest cupcake franchises in America.

She was determined to have something for herself. She started her own cleaning business at the age fifteen. She bought a few mops and buckets and went door to door looking for clients. Even when she started her business it was not a huge hit but she persisted through and she became very successful. She earned a lot of money and then she moved to Nashville all alone with only five hundred dollars in her hands to pursue her music dreams. There was no job, apartment, or friends waiting for her when she arrived. However, she did not let that obstacle get in the way and she continued to find ways for people to acknowledge her passion for singing. She worked during the day at Red Lobster and sang at bars and clubs at night for financial funds. Even though she let go of singing and felt like a failure, she did not give up and go back home. She knew she could make something happen so she looked up to the culinary arts. Not only that, she was laughed at by four banks for wanting to start a cupcake business. Completely turned down and not having any support for her business, she managed to finally find a bank that genuinely helped her get the cash she needed at to start up the business. Even when finding a location she struggled because everyone denied her and said her idea was a waste of time. In the end the Alan Thompson gave her a unit to start her store and today he is the CEO of her business. As Gigi
