A Career As An Ultrasound Technologist
Since I was a little girl I always dreamed about working in the medical field now that I am older and ready to start the path to my career I have chose on becoming a Ultrasound Technologist for various reason. To begin with what gave me the extra push on deciding this particular career path as a Ultrasound Technologist was attending my mothers pregnancy ultrasound appointments and the excitement we would receive when the sonographer would demonstrate to us on the screen my little brothers face, arms and legs. It's an unexplainable excitement we would receive and I want to be able to give that same feeling to others, it excited me that hopefully in a couple years this dream of mine will come true.
I am amazed by the technology we have and how we use it in such amazing ways. And I know with this career I will never stop learning, and the challenges will not stop due to the new ultrasound technology rising each year. I love learning about the human body and the way it works this career path will give me the opportunity to go more in depth seeing it from a new dimension that not many individuals get to. I enjoy helping helping others and with sonography I will be able to do that, by taking the perfect ultrasounds that will help with diagnosis, so patients can receive the appropriate treatment that can save there lives. I will be receiving a feeling of fulfillment with what I do.

Seeing that this job would not just be found in an emergency room or an operating room, sonographers can work at private offices, clinics, medical laboratories, and sometimes mobile ultrasound companies(Jobs). Most sonographers are hired for full-time, but some must work nighttime and weekends(Jobs). The degree field for this profession is sonographic and radiologic technology. The degree level isn’t as high as what most medical careers require, but having an associate's or bachelor’s degree and sometimes certificate programs for those who have experience is what is needed. There is no required experience before becoming a sonographer other than the schooling and training. Very little states require licensure for this job, although sonography certification is required by many employers, along with basic life support and CPR certification. Being a sonographer also comes with a strong average salary of $69,000. As medical careers flourish, the need for technicians in many fields of medicine are increasing. “Most new sonographers enter the field with a two-year associate degree in sonography or the equivalent military training program” stated Decker, “Some already hold related degrees in other fields, and can qualify in sonography by taking a one-year certificate program”(Decker).     My name is Jennifer Mast when I was three years old my sister was born when she came out the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck three times she was dead, but they brought her back to life after that she had seizures every three minutes of the day she had spent a lot of time in the hospital and so did I. when she had turned five years old we drove to California so my sister could get half of her brain removed so the seizures would stop. As a eight year old child does I asked the doctors and nurses plenty of questions I even asked what they were going to do with her brain and if I could see it. Watching the doctors and nurses work on my sister at such a young age helping to save my sisters life made me want to pursue a job in nursing ever since I was a young girl. I have also been a med-tech for the past three years. I have worked in different fields as a nurses aid. I have worked in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home health care. To heel some who is sick or injured or just a family member who needs someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on I am always there to help.
