A Place Where The Sidewalk By Shel Silverstein
This poem by Shel Silverstein had this childlike innocence to it which I loved. The poem reminded me of a riddle and it was up to the reader to interpret the hints and develop an idea of where they thought the sidewalk ends. I thought the repetition of “the place where the sidewalk ends” really emphasized the importance of the end of the sidewalk and led me to think about why one would consider it very important. I began to think about what it is like to have a childlike imagination and I remembered how I used to believe that there were underground worlds that many people did not know existed. This poem reminded me of this type of underground world because it sounded like it was coming from a child’s imagination which was similar to mine. I
