Sadly, it has been turned into news about shocks, and that arose of emotions. This is with respect to issues such as, fame, money &sex, outrages, uncanny/extremist opinions or behavior that have become the major subjects in the mass media. Such topics are structured in a way that captures our way of thinking.
The media has been so interested in giving violent crime reports that arise horror amongst citizens instead of discussing incidence that leads to such social problems. Issues such as unemployment, inequality, poor education, could trigger such violent crime but they are less discussed in the social media. Our professional media are not interested in our social science experts from the universities. They use less of the knowledge of the intelligent from our campuses to create a platform for discussion to find a solution to the social problems.
Moreover, the opinion of the expert has been disregarded, politicians have taken over the media and pass information to meant to appease the mass not to give a solution to their problems, the media has exaggerated way out of portion the crime issues ; violent crime and sexual crimes name them. We maybe neither coerced, nor persuaded to buy into, the media's exaggerated reports on social crimes, money and fame and the rest bit the result is similar. Consumption of mass media content has tailored our way of our thinking.
As much as the media has the mandate to give the exact information to the public, it faces some manipulation from individual with power and authority such as politician and public figures. Competition has also been another challenge to the media corporations. This pushes them to engage in publishing less important but attractive issues to win more followers.
