The Media in Our World The media plays the role in our world of telling people what to do. How to act, what to wear, what clubs to join, what to eat, what hair products to use, what pencil to use. They even tell us who to date or what toilet paper to use. We, the viewers, listen to anything the media says, if the media said that a "brand new" razor is much better than the razor that was "new" two weeks ago, we would toss out our other razors and race to the store to buy this new one. The problem is, we don't think we just do, if the media says something then we do it and we never give it a second thought. We are very dependent on the media. We rely on them to tell us what brand to buy and what brand is terrible. But the reality is they are wrong, they tell us one thing is bad, just so we will buy their products. They take advantage of our vulnerability, they use it against us. They say that one product is awesome and then a week later, they say it's awful and have a new product to advertise. They give us inaccurate information and neglect our needs. The media is everywhere, it's on TV, it's on the computer, it's in magazines, it's in the newspaper. Every way we turn, a new product is available and the media expects us to buy it. Take the tide commercial for example, they always compare their product to "that other stuff". The media is doing horrible things to us, that we don't even know what the after effects are. If this continues then the intelligent brain that all humans have been given, will become obsolete and useless. We will become like little shopping robots, constantly bringing more and more power and money to the media. We, the people, must take a stand now to protect who we are and what we believe in. Whenever the media puts out new products, we the consumers act like its Christmas. We buy product after product that the media puts out, use
