A Thematic Analysis Of Margot By Ray Bradbury

Margot is a very quiet girl, she mostly stood alone away from the other children. There has been raining for seven years and there hasn’t been any sun in those years. In this book the author Ray Bradbury is expressing the importance through the theme of the story. There are two themes that I found was important in this story. Margot doesn't really talk to anyone she usually just looks and walk away. The children are jealous of her. They are jealous because of many reasons. In the story there are many quotes describing how they felt toward Margot and why they were jealous of her “There was a talk that her father and mother were taking her back to earth next year; it seemed vital to her that they do so, though it would mean the loss of thousands of dollars to her family. And so, the children hated her for all these reasons of big and little consequences. They hated her pale snow face, her waiting silence, her thinness, and her possible future.” The children did not like her because she is going back to earth in a year and they wanna leave to but they can't. They are jealous that she gets to leave and they don't.
Also the children in the school didn't just sit there and do nothing about it.
When someone told them that the scientists say that the sun will come out today they don't believe her and end up locking her in a closet.” They surged about her, caught her up and bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying back into a tunnel, a room, a close, whee they slammed and locked the door. They stood looking at the door and sw it tremble from her beating and throwing herself against it.” In this paragraph the children put her in a closet and lock the door. Moments later the sun comes out but doesn't stay for long. They were all jealous of her and now they were taking it out on
her.
Another important theme of the story is hope the children and their parents all had hope tht one day the sun will come out. I think this is important because the whole story is based on if the rain will go away and the sun come out. “ When the sun came out for and hour and showed its face to the stunned world, they could not recall. Sometimes, at night, she heard them stir, in remembrance, and she knew they were dreaming and remembering and old or yellow crayon or a coin large enough to buy the world with.” In this quote the author is talking about how people used to dream about when the sun came out and what the sun the sun looked like. People seemed to want to go back to that day.
In the end, these are all the important themes of the story. All the themes of this story help the reader understand the story better.
